OP posts:

George V and both his sons (Duke of Clarence and the Duke of York) had tattoos.

As did Edward VII, Prince Albert, Queen Victoria (allegedly) and around 1 in 5 member of the aristocracy by 1900. And so did Winston Churchill and his mother, Lady Randalph Curchill.

The dirty chavs...........

lljkk · 19/08/2012 18:18

ooh, Catgirl, do you have any links that show what tats they had?

catgirl2012 · 19/08/2012 18:26

George V ad a cross of Jerusalem :)

catgirl2012 · 19/08/2012 18:26

had even :) my keyboard is rubbish

catgirl2012 · 19/08/2012 18:27

Lady Churchill had a snake on her wrist

lljkk · 19/08/2012 18:33

Winston had an anchor on his arm (says Professor Internet).

lljkk · 19/08/2012 18:36

George V had a red+blue dragon on his arm &... I wish you had warned me what a "Prince Albert" was slang for before I googled images, really did not want to see all that! (Probably something all British people know, eek). I will cease searching for what or where his tat was about .

Empusa · 19/08/2012 18:37

LOL @ lljkk! If I thought you were going to do an image search!

catgirl2012 · 19/08/2012 18:38

Oh god sorry lljkk Grin

TheBigJessie · 19/08/2012 18:53

Well, what should men and women wear to look more classy in your view, theinets?

littlemisssunny · 19/08/2012 18:57

I would never consider myself as classy Grin anyway!

I have 2 small tattoos both which can be hidden, a Japanese symbol for life on the top left of my back, after my youngest was very poorly and made an amazing recovery. My other is a small star on my ankle for the 2 babies I never met when I had miscarriages.

I have them because they are personal to me, and I love them.

I don't take offence when people say they don't like tattoos, I didn't have them to please others!

McHappyPants2012 · 19/08/2012 19:03

i have 2 tats done, never aspire to be classy

BertieBotts · 19/08/2012 19:10

I think that nicely done tattoos look beautiful. I'm too much of a wuss to get any though Blush

TheBigJessie · 19/08/2012 19:11

Making a thread about your view of tattoos and how you don't think they're classy is like making a thread about how you can't understand herpatologists' choices of pet, because you (universal you) hate snakes.

It doesn't matter whether you hate tattoos or snakes. The people who like them will continue to like them, and they already know other people don't share their opinion!

FalseStartered · 19/08/2012 19:13

i just won

had a bet with myself after reading the OP that they didn't return to thread Grin

SPsFanjoSponsorsTheOlympics · 19/08/2012 19:13

What if I had Boden tattooed on me? Would that be much better to my stars and trivial patterns?

freddiefrog · 19/08/2012 19:14

I have several tattoos.

I didn't get them to look classy, feminine or 'right'

I got them because I wanted to.

I don't think I could care less what anyone thinks of them to be perfectly honest

FalseStartered · 19/08/2012 19:15
TheBigJessie · 19/08/2012 19:21

Boden! That's another one. People regularly start threads expressing their detestation for Boden clothes. Yet, Boden are apparently still finding it financially worthwhile to advertise here! Number of opinions swayed=presumably negligable.

SPsFanjoSponsorsTheOlympics · 19/08/2012 19:23

false pure class Grin

FalseStartered · 19/08/2012 19:25

thanks, i've got 'harrods' tattooed on my arse cheeks Wink

TheBigJessie · 19/08/2012 19:32

I wonder if theinets enjoyed his/her trip to Brighton... Presumably it was cheaper to travel there than say, Venice. Wink

I always genuinely enjoy theinets' threads/posts when I see them.

FanjoPingpong · 19/08/2012 19:59

If you don't want to see tattooed people, don't visit Brighton. Confused It's practically compulsory to have tattoos if you live here. I'm looking forward to adding to my collection, and having people arbitrarily judge my education, wealth, intelligence, personality and upbringing based upon it. And then laughing at them.

dementedma · 19/08/2012 21:01

Dd2 went to au pair in Spain when she was 18 and came back with a tat. She is a singer and has 3 music notes tattooed on her belly-it actually looks OK.told her if she ever got pregnant it would look like a symphony lol

MAYBELATERNOWIMBUSY · 19/08/2012 23:38

Small point admittedly , dogs are meant to be for life, dog trusts anyone?
