Confused
Psammead · 16/08/2012 18:21

In what context? Random children on the street? Or your own child, having just accomplished something s/he's proud of?

Yes it really is upsetting.

There's a picture circulating facebook at the moment that says "It doesn't matter how damn hard you are - when a toddler hands you an imaginary phone, you answer it".

Don't be a spoil sport.

YouBloodyWolf · 16/08/2012 18:26

Any, including my own Blush They don't do it when they've done something they're particularly proud of. I'd join in with that.

comes whht living in north america for us i guess - and as for kids - meh they think it's cool

yellowraincoat · 16/08/2012 18:28

I am a teacher and I high five kids all the time. Mostly I instigate it.

I'm a white Scottish late 20s nobody.

But I'm still wicked cool.

Moominsarescary · 16/08/2012 18:28

Yes stop being a spoil sport

My friends eldest has taught her youngest cheers, now that is a pita as she constantly runs up and bashes your drink with hers sending it flying.

YouBloodyWolf · 16/08/2012 18:29

Love that, Pets Grin

HmmThinkingAboutIt · 16/08/2012 18:29

You obviously didn't go to the Olympics.

High Fives EVERYWHERE.
You'd have hated it.

YABU

OutragedAtThePriceOfFreddos · 16/08/2012 18:29

You feel horrible because you felt the need to mention that you are Caucasian. People don't take kindly to that on MN because they think it means you are being racist. HTH

thornrose · 16/08/2012 18:29

Is it because you always miss? Grin

amillionyears · 16/08/2012 18:31

aw,I love being high-fived

BadgersRetreat · 16/08/2012 18:31

arf at missing

more of a two and a half?!??

ImperialBlether · 16/08/2012 18:31

Oh god I really, really hate this. There was a man in our office who used to try to do this - it was embarrassing to watch him, humiliating to have to deal with it. Awful.

YouBloodyWolf · 16/08/2012 18:32

Outraged - I can assure you that I'm not. And Badgers - I'd have made them drop £100 per high-five.

FasterHigherBeardierDaddyman · 16/08/2012 18:35

Me and my dd(3yo) have a secret handshake!

High five
Fist bump
Thumbs up
Shake hands

It feels awesome. Awesooooooome!

YouBloodyWolf · 16/08/2012 18:36

If an adult tried to do it I'd probably kick them in the kneecap. And I've never hit anyone, but every man has his limits.

OP posts:
YouBloodyWolf · 16/08/2012 18:44

Daddyman - it's not a secret anymore so you'll just have to shake hands awkwardly and avoid eye contact.
