I went into a well know phone shop at the weekend to purchase a mobile phone. The sales advisor was a young chap who was helpful when speaking to me. We were having a conversation about a network provider to which he then replied " yeah they are a bunch of c*s". It was a tumbleweed blowing past moment as I looked at him and then looked at my DC who was happily sitting beside me in the shop and had just clearly heard what had been said.

I quickly told the sales advisor to sush and not to say that word to which he just laughed!!. DC said mummy why did that man say that naughty word...
I have complained to the customer service but all they said was sorry. AIBU to think and want a better response than that. I,M disgusted by the word being used infront of DC.

Yes I am for real. He. did. not. call. YOU (or your child).. a. cunt.

He used the word while talking to you, he didnt address you personally as a cunt.

"all go about saying morning cunt and using the offensive term shall we. speak to your boss like that and their kids and see how far it goes"

Was what you said..

Did the assistant say to you "good morning cunt, would you and your little cunt like a phone today?"

No he did not.

I'll let you in on a little secret OP.

Sales assistants are human too.

They make mistakes, they slip up. They are not robots programmed to be all yes madam, no madam.

Just FYI you know..

You got an apology. YABU to want anything else.

DozyDuck · 14/08/2012 16:15

Grin cunstomer service
Phones4cunts

Good morning cunt, would you and your little cunt like a phone today.

I snorted like a pig and DS came to see what was so funny.

Lucky he can't read eh OP?

squeakytoy · 14/08/2012 16:15

Could have been cuntphone whorehouse maybe?

Perhaps he just had a speech impediment..

AmazingBouncingFerret · 14/08/2012 16:17

Didnt buppy coin the word "cuntstomer" as a name for awkward customers?

JennerOSity · 14/08/2012 16:18

Amazing this is definitely true - but OP probably wouldn't have been anywhere near as bothered if he hadn't laughed when she then asked him not to use the word, that is a bit more than a slip up isn't it, he didn't have to grovel, but he shouldn't have laughed surely, even if not a robot?

bongobaby · 14/08/2012 16:18

YABU not to apologise to dantev for that very offensive comment
Fair enough I apologise.
The salesman was offensive for his comment HE should of apologised. He just laughed it off. This is what I have tried to gage a MNS opinion on.

Yes OP are you SURE he said cunt?

Once I was convinced my little brother had said 'I'm going to get you little bastards' while playing a video game at 5. I lost my rag with him and he said 'sorry sorry I never say it again' then half an hour later he said 'I'm going to get you little astrodroids' in a very childish voice, jumped a mile and looked at me. Never felt so guilty.

Also my fellas son said the other day I play 'gaterex' I said 'what?!?!?' convinced he had said 'gay sex' he said 'gaterex' to which DP (when realising what I had thought he said) exploded laughing.

JennerOSity · 14/08/2012 16:19

Grin at Squeaky

DozyDuck · 14/08/2012 16:19

OP of that's what you wanted opinions on then that's what you should have asked Smile

Read your OP Smile

danteV · 14/08/2012 16:21

So you wanted to know if he should have apologised? Of course he should. He was probably really embarrassed and panicked.
If you wanted an apology from him, why ring customer services. Did you expect them to get him to call you?

danteV · 14/08/2012 16:22

Oh and thanks for the apology, although part of me is now thinking an apology for disparaging my parenting is not enough. :)

JennerOSity · 14/08/2012 16:23

I remember getting it in the neck for using the word bloody in primary school - but I had just fallen over and was trying to tell the dinner lady my knee was all bloody - as indeed it was! Can't remember when the rollicking ended and the first aid began. Grin

I think Bongo you are not getting the expected supportive response because your OP didn't quite express what you were actually wanting, unlike your last post which clarifies.

DozyDuck · 14/08/2012 16:24

DS had a carer once to do morning cleaning etc after I had an accident and couldn't do all of his care.

He said shit once. In front of DS.

It just came out. He did apologise to me and I said 'don't worry don't make a big deal out of it or DS will pick up on it'

He didn't say it again.

tethersphotofinish · 14/08/2012 16:25

"Didnt buppy coin the word "cuntstomer" as a name for awkward customers?"

No, it was me! Well, it was my old boss to be fair.

DozyDuck · 14/08/2012 16:27

And after the event I totally forgot about it, until reading this thread. It isn't something that I let bother me too much. Smile

lisaro · 14/08/2012 16:28

If your child was aware it was a 'naughty' word then he's heard it before. Although I wouldn't like that used even without a child there and would have said something.
