to wonder what sort of knickers you wear?

I spend a lot on bras - usually Agent Provocateur, expensive but so worth it - but am then persuaded how lovely it would be to have the matching silk thong/briefs. I then don't wear them because I am more comfortable in the old faithful cotton high waisted knickers......

So what do you do - go for comfort or glamour, and what about VPL, or does anybody go commando? Does anybody actually find thongs comfortable?

Sorry if this is a bit kinky for a Saturday afternoon but i am genuinely interested. I would like comfort AND glamour. AIBU to wonder if this is actually achievable?

LOL! You need to get out more Wink

WorraLiberty · 11/08/2012 14:48

I don't understand how anyone can find high waisted knickers comfortable...I couldn't think of anything worse.

Apart from hight waisted, I don't find any particular style uncomfortable and cotton thongs are great in this warm weather.

RuleBritannia · 11/08/2012 14:48

My days of glamour are over. I wear whatever I find comfortable and never mind who I am with.

ChocolateHips · 11/08/2012 14:48

I wear 'girls' boxers. They have a stupid name as I am not a girl and I am pretty sure that girls do not come in sizes 8-22 but they are very comforatble! Bras, I'm only a 32C so go for push up and boosting so anywhere that can offer me an extra cupsize or 3

Thongs IMO are onlycomfy if they arre a size too big and silk.

ChocolateHips are you me? Hmm
I could've wrote your post word for word (Especially if you add in there the occasional lace french knickers)

bronze · 11/08/2012 14:52

I wear cheap cotton things

GnocchiNineDoors · 11/08/2012 14:52

Primarks knickers to match the bras though strangely im.never fussed about bra and pants matching when on. Shorty type with a lace.trim.

ValiumQueen · 11/08/2012 14:53

I always wore a thong or went commando pre-kids, but now wear belly warmers. I am heavily pregnant, but even when not my episiotomy and bladder will not allow my previous attire, or lack of. I like a nice bra though.

ChocolateHips · 11/08/2012 14:55

I gave up my french knickers when I put a bit more weight on my hips, constant feeling of having a wedgie.

Dolcelatte · 11/08/2012 14:55

But MagicHouse, I'm just idling an hour on a Saturday afternoon, same as you - or do you have something madly exciting and thrilling planned imminently which you would like to share with us?

I know cotton high waisted is frumpy, but also it's comfy....sad, but true!

I could have written the OP! I buy lovely underwear sets and think how nice they are, but in reality the knickers aren't comfy or show under my clothes so I end up wearing nice bras with my multipack M and S black high legs all the time. I keep on doing this and have loads of pretty pants I don't wear!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 11/08/2012 14:57

I like quite big ones, but pretty big ones! I either get the high waist pairs that go with the bras (usually Fantasie) or the black lace trimmed M&S three for a tenner ones. My aim is a sort of 50s siren look, though I suspect I don't really achieve that.

sugarice · 11/08/2012 15:00

I've got some lovely La Senza sets that are comfy and glamorous but you can't beat M+S boy shorts which are okay looking but dead comfy.

HecateHarshPants · 11/08/2012 15:02

I'm not wearing any right now. Giving the old gal a bit of an airing (under an ankle length skirt)

Normally I wear big ones. up to the waist, industrial strength lycra Grin Some of them are more like shorts

deliciousdevilwoman · 11/08/2012 15:03

I wear beautiful bras. I buy the matching knickers, but rarely wear them. I wear Spanx/other control knickers almost every day.

Leftwingharpie · 11/08/2012 15:04

Cotton g strings under work clothes, but change into boy shorts the second I get home! I don't have anything fancy or expensive and never have.

SoleSource · 11/08/2012 15:05

I wrar them for TOTM and own 7 pairs. Other than that I never wear them.

MagicHouse · 11/08/2012 15:07

Sorry Dolcelatte - didn't mean anything by it, your post made me laugh!! - and fair comment - I'm feeling guilty for wasting my entire Saturday on MN when I have a ton of (very unexciting) washing etc to do.

Thongs are only uncomfortable if too small.

I try and make an effort usually and wear something pretty, simply because I feel more confident this way.

Depending on my clothes it could be thongs, or lace knickers. I also own control pants, in case I want to wear a fitted dress :)

DH hates the control pants but he quite likes the rest of my underwear drawer.

tartyflette · 11/08/2012 15:13

Worral. Full briefs are the ONLY truly comfortable knickers around because, quite simply, they stay put, at your natural waistline, while fitting and covering your curves. No riding up or slipping down, no uncomfortable seam-or-strap-in-crack moments, no cutting or chafing. They can be plain, cool cotton or as frilly and lacy as you like. Thry can even have that boy-leg cut. Nothing worse than having to do the tug as you sashay up to the bar or walk along the high st. Grin, You can get seamfree, no VPL, sheer silk or even sturdy sloggis. They're all good.

Dolcelatte · 11/08/2012 15:15

Thanks MagicHouse for your gracious reply.

My mother was always concerned to have 'naice undies' because what if you had an accident and had to go into hospital and people would see them - LOL!

Living in these, soft, cool and comfortable. Very, very stretchy, in fact we're convinced the are the biggest knickers in the world, they will pull up to over my bra! Really comfy, though.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 11/08/2012 15:18

Whilst we're on the subject of knickers, I need to wear quite a figure hugging dress soon and am not quite as small as I was when I bought it. Any recs for something that will give me a wasp-waist but still allow me to move/breathe unaided?
