I don't understand (bar finances and even then not really an excuse) why some women when they become parents, out goes the stylish clothes, in comes Tesco mummy jeans!

Out goes the decent hair cut/colour, in comes uncombed hair.

There is NO excuse (apart from depression before the righteous mafia comes for my neck, haha.

Seriously it really bugs me.

Megatron · 10/08/2012 10:03

Defensive or what? Struck a nerve have I dear?

Why would I be defensive? I've already said that I like to take care of myself, and I do. I just don't understand why some people seem to get a kick out of judging others and deciding that other they are not 'making an effort'. But what the hell, if you enjoy it knock yourself out.

wankpants · 10/08/2012 10:04

Ooops LOL dear

Megatron · 10/08/2012 10:06

I know wankpants that really got to me. Cut me to the quick it did. Grin Grin

HexagonalQueenOfEveything · 10/08/2012 10:07

You know what, Megatron, Wank or whatever you are called? I am bowing out of this thread now. you've both picked over my posts and are clearly looking for anything to have a dig about.

But what the hell, knock yourselves out.

MrsBucketxx · 10/08/2012 10:08

thats it I'm going to wash and blow dry my hair, put a dress and slap on just to keep you happy op Grin

usualsuspect · 10/08/2012 10:09

And the OP got what she wanted.

Kayano · 10/08/2012 10:10

As much as I hate to say it... I agree. Some mums seem to be in competition as to who has it worst and who is looking the shabbiest.

Wink

Just a comb and some clothes (not pjs and uggs) would make such a difference lol.

AGiraffeOnTheDivingBoard · 10/08/2012 10:13

Exactly usual fisticuffs before lunch over tesco's jeans.

LRDtheFeministDragon · 10/08/2012 10:14

buba - no worries, just not the best thread to get replies on and the info is all here, MN is quite good at that while I know some sites are not.

Megatron · 10/08/2012 10:14

Hexagonal That's not what happened. I asked a question based on something posted on this thread. You replied not by answering what I had asked, but by having a dig at me.

Anyway, I'm off out now so better go and get myself ready, god forbid anyone would take a look at me and decide that I had stopped making the effot.

LRDtheFeministDragon · 10/08/2012 10:14

kay, I'll have you know my PJs are dead swish! Grin

Ephiny · 10/08/2012 10:15

Actually I really don't care what someone wears, how they look etc. What is annoying though is the sanctimonious sneering at women/mothers who do dress nicely, keep their figures slim etc, as though they are somehow not 'putting their children first'.

As someone said, it takes as long to put on bad clothes as good ones. And it takes less time and costs less to eat less (hence more time and money for your precious children, if you want to look at it that way Hmm).

midori1999 · 10/08/2012 10:17

I've been a parent for all of my adult life and I can't remember a time when I spent much more than £20 on a pair of jeans. In fact, I had to carefully consider my last pair of jeans from Asda as I wasn't sure I wanted to spend as much as £20...

I very rarely wear make up unless I am going out for the evening, I keep myself and my hair clean on a daily basis and I do usually brush my hair, use moisturiser etc but there aere just more important things in life than how I look and 20 minutes doing my hair or makeup or time spent shopping for clothes is time I could spend with my children and I know how I'd rather spend my time.

usualsuspect · 10/08/2012 10:18
Kayano · 10/08/2012 10:18

I've got leopard print pjs and strawberry ones but I can assure
You there is no need for the general public to see them

I always judge pj wearers. Always.
It looks
Crap
Lazy
Cheap
Dirty
Embarrassing for your kids

HexagonalQueenOfEveything · 10/08/2012 10:19

I don't think though midori that looking nice and spending time with children are mutually exclusive. It's a bit like those that say that they don't do housework as they'd rather spend time with their children. It is possible to look good each day and be a good parent

I take time over my appearance every day but I still spend plenty of time with my children.

TiggyD · 10/08/2012 10:19

There's no point in mums trying to look stylish or attractive. They've found a mate, bred, and now their role is to look after their spawn. In the old days you would have needed to keep up the looks for a while to keep your partner around to fight off bears for you, but now with all kinds of benefits and money for child maintenance it's not necessary.

Men do have to stay cool and stylish after children because they can always go off with a younger, more attractive lady and start a fresh family with her.

wankpants · 10/08/2012 10:21

Hex just gets funnier with every post. Grin

HexagonalQueenOfEveything · 10/08/2012 10:21

I can honestly say I've never seen anyone in public wearing PJs. Ever

HexagonalQueenOfEveything · 10/08/2012 10:21

But if I did I would judge them

LRDtheFeministDragon · 10/08/2012 10:22

Ooh, strawberry print PJs sound good.

I don't go out in my PJs, but mainly because I would feel very, very odd.

I did used to go to parties in a victorian nightie, though, because it was significantly more glam than most cocktail dresses.

tiggy - funny, funny.

AGiraffeOnTheDivingBoard · 10/08/2012 10:23

woo hoo a bundle!

HexagonalQueenOfEveything · 10/08/2012 10:24

And actually looking back, Megatron I did answer your original question to me with a perfectly reasonable reply. It's you that made this thread into something unpleasant and read things into my posts that were simply not there. Oh well, if it makes you feel good about yourself and like a big person, fill your boots.

wankpants · 10/08/2012 10:24

I saw my first lady in PJs here recently. Twas a proud moment.

wankpants · 10/08/2012 10:24

ooo another for the tick list
