MammaTJisanOlympicSumoWrestler · 05/08/2012 16:49

I always complain when I'm not I.D.ed which is all the blooming time as I look every one of my 44 years!!

rushgirl28 · 05/08/2012 16:49

childish cause i have an opition

NormaSteepleChaser · 05/08/2012 16:52

Or if not free, it is a cheaper option than a passport

TheQueenOfDiamonds · 05/08/2012 16:52

Why were you humiliated though?
I don't have I.D. So I don't moan when I'm refused goods for that. Its my own fault for being too lazy and tight to shell out for a provisional license.

ilovesooty · 05/08/2012 16:52

I take it you meant opinion ?

No: childish because you're whining about procedures there for a good reason.

NagooingForGold · 05/08/2012 16:53

£15 is not too bad. here

I am 33 and I love it when I get ID'd but I do always carry mine since they do the '25' thing, because it is bloody annoying when you are refused something.

Olympia2012 · 05/08/2012 16:55

Good luck with this,er, petition!

The staff who have to comply with all the proof of age procedures are regularly shouted at, insulted, told to f* off/ drop dead, etc and that's on a good day :( please don't be another person acting against us :(

so id cards are not worth it then thats great you cant take your passport out when you go clubs what if it gets stolen that 70 something pound down the drain.

ilovesooty · 05/08/2012 17:03

You asked if you were being unreasonable. Most say you are. You chose AIBU to post in. Get over it.

TheQueenOfDiamonds · 05/08/2012 17:03

OP Why were you humiliated?, this is the 3rd time I've asked. I don't understand how being asked for I.d as per the law, equals humilation?

ilovesooty · 05/08/2012 17:05

Do you have a mobile phone which you take to clubs? Is it worth £70?

Olympia2012 · 05/08/2012 17:06

Yabu!

My dd carries her passport at times as id. Why do you think you would lose it? And why were you. 'humiliated'?

kinkyfuckery · 05/08/2012 17:06

Oh god, your life sounds soooo hard.

I don't have a passport, or drivers licence, so I paid £15 and got a Citizencard. It's great, also means I can fly domestic flights without a passport.

Waahhh waaaahh!

kinkyfuckery · 05/08/2012 17:07

Why do you think you would lose it? And why were you. 'humiliated'?

She wasn't, she was humiated I think it's like fumigation, but only on done on gambling premises.

SarahStratton · 05/08/2012 17:09

Did you stick your bottom lip out and stamp your foot, when you said you were getting up a petition? Grin

Or did you scweam and scweam until you were sthick?

Triggles · 05/08/2012 17:13

oh, and for clarification, everyone in the US does NOT get carded regardless of age. You get carded if you don't look old enough, just like here. Unless you get a ridiculously stupid jobsworth that wants to be an ass and ask for ID when you're 40-something.. just like you get the same kind here..

Honestly, if you're going to trot out a "foreign fact" at least get it right.

Hmm
LollipopViolet · 05/08/2012 17:16

YABU.

Would you rather someone lost their job and got a personal fine of thousands because you have no ID? A friend who worked in a bar once said, "One drink just isn't worth my job and a £15,000 fine." She's right.

I carry mine at all times, and don't get asked often. I know the one time I leave it at home though, I will be!

Heavensmells · 05/08/2012 17:18

Citizen cards are £15.

YABVU. I work in a betting shop and I as an individual can be prosecuted and fined up to £25,000 if I serve somebody who is underage. We are tested constantly by the company, the council and the gambling commission and will lose our jobs if we fail these 'age tests'

I have received abuse and been threatened with violence when I've asked for I.D before. Age laws are there to protect the young and vulnerable. I would really like to know what YOU suggest as an alternative.
