......that make them so superior in performance. It has to be genetic. I am in awe of them as they appear to glide effortlessly around the track. The Jamaican athletes are just wow! Their speed is just amazing.

the majority of posts have been unacceptable so i have no regrets in answering forcefully and as for mnhq their lack of reaction to those posts is also unacceptable so my comments to them are correct.

I'm glad Channel 4 didn't take the same attititude and deemed it worthy of a documentary.

I think that black athletes are awe-inspiring such as Hussein Bolt, Mo farrow and Jessica Ennis. I don't think it's racist to speculate on their athletic superiority.

I was having a similar conversation about the maori warriors and why Maori men are generally so well built. Apparently it is because they are heavily tattooed all over; an initiation process into manhood which killed all but the strongest men. Hence the prevailance of big maori men.

It is probably a mixture of genes and culture re black athletic superiority.
There are some amazing white long distance runners though and any generalisations risk offending people.

Who exactly are white athletes superior to on the running track? I am racking my brains. I am referring to running mainly.

Ok rowing is largely dominated by white people and team GB excelled in that but then it is cuturally a white, middle class sport.

I did not want to get drawn into this thread, I can't believe it's not been deleted or died a death. Some very thick skinned people on here that won't accept that the premise of this thread is ridiculous.

How can you have a thread about 'black people' and their physical attributes? Last time I looked, black people came from all over the world and are not one race.

Is there anyone actually on this thread qualified or skilled enough to give a scientific diagnostic? Anyone who's put in years of research and testing? I'm imagining not.

If this op was the title to a thesis, it would be failed as it is so general, where could you even start?

If I felt White people were superior at a particular thing then I would question it and put it out there for discussion on the same basis I have this thread.

The Channel 4 documentary asked a very specific question - why were all the 100m finalists in the Beijing Olympics descended from slaves - not why are black people good runners.

Mo Farah puts his success down to "grafting". Making references to black people as if they were a homogeneous group is ridiculous and offensive. It intimates that the individuals haven't worked hard for their achievements, they just got lucky with their genes.

No one discusses white people in such a way. I don't hear people speculating that white people must have some genetic superiority when it comes to rowing boats and how that should be investigated.

But somehow as soon as black people get good at something, scientists start researching why - as if there is something unnatural about it!!!! It is so bizarre!

DH is white North African so does that mean that our kids will be good middle and long distance runners? But hang on I am white Northern European so our sons should be good Javelin throwers, rowers and swimmers. Or will they be good middle distance swimming javelin throwers .

Can you not see that generalisations based on a skin colour shared by billions of people over a huge geographical area are fundementally flawed.

But chaz that is the whole point of research. Of course I don't know the answers, that's why I am questioning it. Some people have come back with some rational responses in relation to social factors etc while others tend to follow other theories. I am not here telling anyone they are right or wrong, I am not qualified to do so as neither are many others on this thread.
