mil (lovely lovely person) says peg at hem.
I peg at shoulders.

my reasons

  • I don't have a line, only a wing airer so long arms would dreg on the floor
  • the fabric gets streched too much with the weight of the arms pulling down

Hem..... Peg marks on shoulders are not a good look!

hellhasnofurylikeahungrywoman · 04/08/2012 18:08

Armpits as peg marks are easier to hide.

CheerMum · 04/08/2012 18:08

Shoulders

Spuddybean · 04/08/2012 18:09

i don't peg at all, just hang the clothes over, halfway.

MammaTJ · 04/08/2012 18:09

If you wear it on the top, hang it from the bottom, if you wear it on the bottom, hang it from the top!! Generally MIL is right, however, if the sleeves really would drag on the floor, that would be silly and there is an exception to every rule!!

SpeckleDust · 04/08/2012 18:10

I always peg between armpit and shoulder. Ironing gets rid if any any peg marks, but pegging at the hem is just wrong to me.

JumpingThroughHoops · 04/08/2012 18:10

Hem, on the side stitch.

all top garments at the hem, all bottom garments at the waist. Except real wool which is dried flat

Graciescotland · 04/08/2012 18:10

Shirt closed, peg at armpit.

TheVermiciousKnid · 04/08/2012 18:11

Hem.

have discovered that clothes dry much quicker when pegged plus I don't have to collect some items from around the garden when the wind is strong.
so it's pretty split atm

Hem. But...

I remember a friends being horrified at the way I pegged my trousers out (from the top). She said rather abruptly I was doing it wrong and laughed at me. I told her how could you hang washing out wrong? If it gets dried, it's the right way. Shut her up Grin

Kladdkaka · 04/08/2012 18:17

Hem

Chubfuddler · 04/08/2012 18:17

Hem at side seam. Not on some insane bias diagonal thing. Do you hear me mother? HEM.

Sorry. Own issues there.

Flyingwithoutwings · 04/08/2012 18:18

Hem, at the side seam. But, on an airer, I just hang over. I also hang them on hangers in the conservatory (have a discrete pole attached to a beam - very old conservatory).

I'm of the "tops from their bottoms, bottoms from their tops" group Grin

phlebas · 04/08/2012 18:18

hem

JeezyPeeps · 04/08/2012 18:21

I used to hang from the hem. Now I hang whichever way is easier - ie if I pick it up top highest, I peg from the shoulders. It doesn't make much difference, I've discovered.

TheNinjaGooseIsOnAMission · 04/08/2012 18:22

hem

LemonBreeland · 04/08/2012 18:23

Agree in entirety with Mammtj

JennerOSity · 04/08/2012 18:26

hem to avoid peg marks on shoulders and save ironing but you could peg up the sleeves too so they don't drag.

NormaSteepleChaser · 04/08/2012 18:26

Hem

Though if pushed for.space, by the collar

OldGreyWiffleTest · 04/08/2012 18:27

Peg from bottom, then peg cuffs also.
