mil (lovely lovely person) says peg at hem.
I peg at shoulders.

my reasons

  • I don't have a line, only a wing airer so long arms would dreg on the floor
  • the fabric gets streched too much with the weight of the arms pulling down

Hem - and trousers by the ankles. If they're pegged by the waist I don't think they dry properly.

eurochick · 04/08/2012 18:28

Hem on washing line outside. Indoors, I dry shirts on hangers.

ladyinthelibrary · 04/08/2012 18:28

I'm with Mammatj's mantra. Hem.

Or if delicate material, on a hanger, then on the line via a little plastic jobby from Lakeland.

Dawndonna · 04/08/2012 18:29

Hem.

BellaVita · 04/08/2012 18:29

I peg on the side seams of the hem.

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 04/08/2012 18:29

I fold the collar over the line and peg there, I must be weird Confused

Arabellasmella · 04/08/2012 18:29

Hem. It's a fact. I learnt it at Brownies.

OlaRapaceFru · 04/08/2012 18:30

Sorry - but you're all wrong Grin

You should hang your shirts on proper hangers (not wood, but of a good quality plastic variety, as the fabric is still wet) and then hang the hangers on the line.

springydaffs · 04/08/2012 18:30

peg marks on the collar?

hem of course

hippoCritt · 04/08/2012 18:32

Hem with colour matched pegs

CaroleService · 04/08/2012 18:34

My mother is of the opinion that you should peg by the hem, with the open side facing the prevailing wind, then the wind can get in more fill them up thus eliminating creases.

McHappyPants2012 · 04/08/2012 18:39

Tumble dry everything even if it is 30oc outside

treas · 04/08/2012 18:45

"If you wear it on the top, hang it from the bottom and if you wear it on the bottom hang it from the top"

Apparently Confused

nikcname · 04/08/2012 18:45

Trousers, shirts etc get put over line about halfway up with 2 pegs to hold them. They dry just fine and all gets ironed anyway (baffled).
I didn't know there were rules and I went to Brownies!!

NoComet · 04/08/2012 18:46

Shoulder seams, you have to iron things if you leave the sleeves flapping about.

NickyNackyNooNoo · 04/08/2012 18:47

Never peg shirts, always dry on their hangers - less creases too Grin

KissMyEmbroideryHoop · 04/08/2012 18:47

A-hem.

Obv.

PuppyMonkey · 04/08/2012 18:50

Hem on line.
On hanger from clotheshorse inside.

Love a washing thread.
Has anyone said they've never owned an iron in their life yet?Grin

Fizzylemonade · 04/08/2012 18:51

Hem at the side seams for shirts but I have massive rotary washing line.

Trousers are pegged at the waistband as water drains downwards so this being double thickness material helps to dry it.

Also I don't peg things closed, ie I only peg the back of the trouser waistband to allow air to circulate, also the same with pillowcases, and I peg t-shirts from the hem, again only the back.

The only exception to this rule is duvet covers are they are just too big i am anal Grin

Chewbecca · 04/08/2012 18:56

YABU
"tops on the bottom, bottoms on the top" is the rule

Lovesabadboy · 04/08/2012 19:03

I do exactly what Fizzy Lemonade does!
With the addition of leaving the open side of shirts facing out so that the air can circulate around.
Duvet covers I hang on the rotary using two rows of line so that they can flap around more!

lovebunny · 04/08/2012 19:05

closed. hem.

Chandon · 04/08/2012 19:09

Hem or hanger

youarewinning · 04/08/2012 19:10

another here who says hang from the bottom!

Or if you have an airer hang on a hanger from the airer - thats what I do!

StaceymReadyForNumber3 · 04/08/2012 19:12

Never had a peg mark on the collar when I peg there but they are ironed too!
