My dd is disabled and has a blue badge. I also have a toddler. I do generally try to park in p&c spaces but if none are free/convenient I will park in a disabled space.

I am sick to the back fucking teeth of busybodies harassing me on the assumption that I'm just a um of two who is abusing the space. I've just had some mardy troutfaced bitch stride over and inform me that people like me are disgusting. she didn't even fucking apologise when I pointed out that I was displaying a blue badge and disabled class road tax disc, she just sniffed and walked off.

What business is it of other peoples? Seriously. Fuck the fuck off then fuck off some more!

Breathes.

I have on occasion challenged people about their abuse of disabled parking spaces - but NEVER before having a look to see if a blue badge is displayed.

People would do well to remember that not all disability is visible to the casual onlooker.

tryingtonotfeckup · 01/08/2012 12:42

That is appalling, YANBU, no one should behave like that.

She is the one who is disgusting. I'm trying to find a reason why she didn't apologise and I all I can come up with is that she but got herself all worked up and then couldn't even though she was in the wrong. Weak I know.

Sorry that you have to keep facing this. Hope someone else comes on with a great comeback.

hermionestranger · 01/08/2012 12:43

What a cow! You have done nothing wrong, nothing! I'd have been tempted to hit her over the head with the blue badge! Fuming on your behalf!

WorraLiberty · 01/08/2012 12:45

She just wondered up to you and said that? Confused

Bizarre

FalseStartered · 01/08/2012 12:46

it's disgusting that this happens, you can blame the likes of the DM and of course our lovely gvt who have chosen our DCs and others to blame for everything Bad In The World (or so it seems)

the next time i get Hmm looks for using my radar key with DD, that person will get a firm 'wind your neck in and fuck off' from me

FalseStartered · 01/08/2012 12:48

Worra

people do just wander up and make remarks like that, they're doing a public service don't you know Sad

my own 'D' mother is onesuch Angry

WelshMaenad · 01/08/2012 12:49

I get it all the time, Worra. People telling me they hope I get booked. People (generally elderly) demanding I move my car to accommodate them, the allegedly more needy. One special gent who demanded to inspect dd's badge because he was convinced I'd borrowed it "from my gran" - I'd have a job, they were both dead by 1992.

DozyDuck · 01/08/2012 12:49

I've not had that yet. Something to look forward to I suppose

WorraLiberty · 01/08/2012 12:52

That's disgusting

I could fully understand if you didn't have your disabled DD with you at the time, but to march up and say something like that is beyond weird.

And believe me, I live in an area where if you stayed too long in a traffic jam, the locals would have your wheels off.

Lovelynewboots · 01/08/2012 12:52

Just say "sorry, can't hear a word your saying" and ignore them. They have no right and you do not have to engage with such cretinous behaviour.

Panzee · 01/08/2012 12:54

I never challenge. As far as I'm concerned, if you park there it's because you're supposed to. Some people have too much time on their hands.

Might you consider looking down your nose at complainer and stating "You really are stupid, aren't you?" in a haughty voice? :o

nailak · 01/08/2012 12:54

Is.your dd visibly disabled?

I think maybe they look at u and think whatever your disability others are worse so need it more?

FalseStartered · 01/08/2012 12:57

nailak

the blue badge is the only indicator the OP needs

WelshMaenad · 01/08/2012 12:57

Not at a glance, no. She can walk, just not very far, if I have both kids I struggle with putting her in her wheelchair so she will walk if we're just popping in for a few things. Watch her coming back to the car, though, and you can't really miss her dragging her foot behind her out of exhaustion.

ChuffMuffin · 01/08/2012 12:57

Four words for people like that.

"Blue badge, fuck off".

Grin

FalseStartered · 01/08/2012 12:58

you have no need to justify or explain, OP

you have a blue badge

SpottedGurnard · 01/08/2012 12:59

Smile and ignore OP, smile and ignore.

There really are some loons out there who genuinely believe that it is their duty to police parking spaces.

I was challenged by a pensioner. I looked at him, thought long and hard about my response. 'No.' I said. 'No I don't remember anything in the rules of using blue badges that means I have to justify myself to you.'
I walked off and he yelled something at me over the carpark. 'So check with the council' I said.
I was quite proud of myself, normally I'd cry about something like that but I was so fkg angry at his self righteousness he deserved both barrels!
Fkwits.

gallifrey · 01/08/2012 13:03

I have a blue badge, and also 2 children and always park in the disabled spaces. I don't look disabled and nobody has ever said anything to me ever!

valiumredhead · 01/08/2012 13:06

I have had a blue badge for 2 1/2 years , my disability isn't always obvious, no one has even glanced in my direction.

fruitysummer · 01/08/2012 13:09

My dad gets it all the time.

Not visibly disabled but he's got a blue badge...........had to jump through hoops for it too although not literally, even I recognise the irony in that statement

If we go out for the day and my dad is with us, obviously we take his badge so he doesn't have to struggle.

I once let him out first before I parked as it was a damn ridiculous tight spot and he wouldn't have been able to get out due to where he was sat in the car. The mouthful I got from some stupid bitch and her cock of a husband.

I just stood and laughed at them when my mum and dad gave them the biggest bollocking they'd ever had. We had a crowd by the end of it who all cheered and applauded. We kept seeing them for the rest of the day too!

SoleSource · 01/08/2012 13:11

Nailak is that how you judge disability. I fucking hope not.

A blue badge with present person's name and photograph is enough. Crazy people about.

Noqontrol · 01/08/2012 13:15

Id tell her to piss off, the old trout.
