Well I for one will be pleased when it returns to the domain of the Arty Farty types, much more bearable than the aggressive, loud lobsters that are scattered around the childrens' paddling pool on the seafront or sea. It has been hellish on the central seafront over the last few days. My DS has wanted to visit the seafront play areas for the water play - these are normally great fun but I will only take him first thing at the moment to avoid the above!
I have lived here for 9 years and it is the friendliest place I have ever lived and I to have lived all over- I was born and brought up in London, then lived in shropshire, Sheffield, Birmingham, Bristol and Worcester. My mum lives in Shropshire and every time I visit her I can't believe how unfriendly a place it is. Every time I've taken my DC to parks in Shrewsbury, Telford know one says anything to you. Even in National Trust parks. It is totally different in Brighton, there is a real sense of community that I've never known before. Parents talk to each other.
Equally, i can't believe how a lot of people talk to their children or threaten to smack where my mum lives and when I visit Relatives in Birmingham, it's all, 'pack it in or I'll.....' My mum has lived in this market town for 18 years and is so bored and lonely that she is moving to Brighton. I visit and stay with my brother in North London and the parks are rubbish in his locality, imnot talking about central London parks. He's just paid 1.5 million for his house and I really can't see why and even he's starting to have doubts as every fucking down there is traffic, the local park is really unattractive, so it's always off to Hampstead Heath for a walk or picnic. It's lovely but that's the choice. Brighton has loads of great parks that have mostly be refurbished in the last 2 years, you can see the 'Downs' from where we live but the Daily Mail is not going to show you photos of these Pretty empty parks- thank God as they're currently safe havens from the tourists!
