Men hitting back in self defence?

Have just been shown a shocking video on you tube of a girl attacking a man (i assume it was her friends taking the video on their mobiles?) and the man punched her back and knocked her out. AIBU to think that it served her right? DP seems to think IABU and that man should have just run away. I kinda feel conflicted now, violence is never good but i am struggling to get past the feeling that she reaped what she sowed.

I am not saying you purposely gave a false impression. I can see why you have interpreted that way. I think she fell over because she didn't expect it.

It looked like self-defence to me. She hit him several times and he was trying to get away. I don't approve of the strong attacking the weak, but self-defence is legitimate.

I think that people should use the minimal force to defend themselves... eg a good shove to push them away or more if they are say coming at you with a knife. if someone went on to hit repeatedly that would not be self defence. men should not have to put up with violence just because the perpatrator is a woman.

I think he was well within his right to defend himself. She got what she deserved. However how many people are now going to 'defend' themselves and maybe not have the same restraint as this man and actually do some serious damage. Hopefully this will stop things like this happening , though I doubt it.

He was perfectly entitled to do what he did, she was following him down the street repeatedly hitting him and when she appeared to trap him he used force to get out of it. He hardly gave her a full right hook anyway, she fell to the ground more because she wasn't expecting it. Should hopefully teach her a lesson, if you become violent with another person then don't be surprised if they hit back.

Also - I feel the need to point out that she is young and physically fit, whereas the man is (I would guess) in his late 50s early 60s and does not appear to be nearly as agile as the girl.

Did you actually watch the video? He was trying to get away but she caught up with him and attacked him from behind. It's quite clear she could outrun him.

i hate the attitude that some women like the one in the video have. Based on the concept that it is wrong to hit a woman some use it as a weapon to hit men knowing that they wont be hit in return. When i grew up at school alot of the girls did it and actively taunted the oy they were hitting saying they couldnt hit them back

there was a judge judy episode where a woman started a domestic violence incident and the guy got arrested after hitting the woman after she beat him with a frying pan. judge judy had to explain to the woman why she had no sympathy for her injury after what she did to the guy and the woman was like...but he hit me.

It's completely reasonable to defend yourself and I think that's what he did. When she was on the floor he backed away, that suggests his aim was to stop her attacking him.

The only thing the guy did wrong was not punching the rest of them senseless, too.

I had a sort of similar experience when i was about 25 outside a pub. A drunk girl / woman went for me for no reason i never met her / knew her. After a few cuffs around my head i managed to grab both her wrists and just her her thrashing about for a min or so. I think she thought i was someone else maybe?
Anyway she did calm down when she realised she was not going to get anywhere and i let her go. I didn't need to hit her as i am 6 foot 14 stone and she was not going to do me any damage. Saying that if it had been a bloke her size i would have smacked him one.

pigletpower, I'm curious where you get your "kicked her teeth out" comment from, I don't see that in the video and I've watched it several times. To me, what I saw was an adult man being chased and tormented by a pack of young women, one of whom was actually attacking him and the rest giggling/poised to move in at the first sign of weakness.

After attempteing to flee, he is finally cornered and retaliates with a slap (which I think connected) and then a punch (which looked all dramatic but I doubt had much force.)

He didn't retaliate instantly did he? He tried to push her away a couple of times but she kept on and on at him and finally he snapped. Don't blame him, I'd have snapped much sooner if some silly little bitch had been pushing at me like that.

You're obviously watching a different clip to everyone else because there's no evidence whatsoever that the man had done anything to provoke the attack.

Were they have got him cornered is at the top of some stairs.

It is a common place for alcoholics/homeless to sit and there are increasing amounts of attacks by groups of girls around there.

It is becoming more and more dangerous for people to walk around on their own.

There have been cases of lone men being threatened with the police, by girls, if they don't hand over money.

I don't know what the answer is to this sort of thing, tbh.

I only wish my old school friend had hit back the woman who attacked in the street for no reason. He might have been alive today to see his two little girls growing up.
