I remember seeing a page 3 girl for the first time when I was about 6 as my neighbour bought the Sun. I cringed inwardly, and haven't stopped feeling the same since. I have 5 nieces 3 nephews and my own 2 sons.....I hope they could grow up without seeing images of women objectified like this. Clearly I am not showing this to them but at some point I know they will. Does anyone else feel the same?

I don't like it but it also doesn't bother me. I just feel sorry for the kids having to see it tbh. oh well it hasn't ruined any if our lives i'm sure it will be fine. #nothingchanges

I have no issue with it either, the girls are paid a wage, they are clearly happy to do it, my dh may look at at it (I don't know for sure) but it doesn't bother me if he does. My kids have no reason to look at it as we do not buy the paper.

Women are seen as sexual objects throughout our culture. Page three normalises this cos it's just in the paper. It's not speciality it's just there while you read the news.
The effect objectification has on women is huge. It's the reason men think they have the right to to touch women on the street. That women are expected to wear makeup to a lot of jobs and why so many people don't see sex work as degrading, dehumanising. It affects us all very negatively.

Nothing will change if you ban page 3. You'll just be taking away someone's choice to do something.

But I'm choosing to want to do a campaign.

You do that. I hope it makes you feel soooo much better and maybe a bit high and mighty. Go you for being so productive and doing something worth while with your time.

Banning page three won't do anything unless we change everything else that objectifies women in this culture, but it's a start.

I think this equality stuff is how you see it. If you feel yourself inequal to men than you're going to be treated as such.
