Wait, do I have the youthful legs and missing teeth or do you?

Cuz the legs are not youthful and I have all my teeth.

Grin

See?

HoneyDragonWearingLederhosen · 17/07/2012 13:09

Thank you Tee.
I come here for the abuse and patronisation it makes me all warm and fuzzy inside when I'm called a cunt.

Tee2072 · 17/07/2012 13:10

Yes. We've hurt her feelings after she started a thread telling us we're all childish for using terms we've been using for 15 years.

My heart is bleeding over here.

Oh look, I did post it. How did that happen?

::slaps wrist::

HoneyDragonWearingLederhosen · 17/07/2012 13:12

I am struggling to live with the burden of guilt here Sad

yellowraincoat · 17/07/2012 13:12

I dislike "stabby" a lot.

I dislike DS, DH etc, which I've never seen anywhere else. Perhaps they are used elsewhere, but really, is that a good reason?

I don't think it says anything about the people that use them. I just dislike them.

MammaBrussels · 17/07/2012 13:12

Stabby is a place near Uppsala, Sweden

Latara · 17/07/2012 13:20

Oops i always thought 'DH' means 'Darling husband' not 'dear' - would never say either darling or dear in real life; but Much easier online to say DSis not 'my sister' eg.
Not seen AF used to mean periods; i like my own acronym TOTM - Time of The Month.
Which is always a PITA - pain in the arse.

I assumed original MNers must have been v posh to routinely say 'darling'... doh!!

'Dear' is more normal... one of my friends uses it for her husband (in a sarky way).

My vocab & general knowledge has actually improved since joining MN - i have learnt words, phrases & about issues / subjects i never knew about before.

(No i don't mean sweary stuff 'Fuck off to the far side of fuck & when you get there fuck off some more' but i like it!! - i often say it silently to certain people in real life & it makes me feel a whole lot happier!)

yellowraincoat · 17/07/2012 13:22

I always thought AF was relating to AnyFucker Blush

Ok, I have a question about punctuation and Smileys. What's the rule? I mean, if you want to put a face at the end of the sentence, should it act as punctuation, or not Hmm ? Also, if you have to add punctuation, you have to add a space so as not to destroy the smiley and that annoys me because one doesn't add a space before punctuation Angry .

Tee2072 · 17/07/2012 13:36

See I would write it like this:

"Also, if you have to add punctuation, you have to add a space so as not to destroy the smiley and that annoys me because one doesn't add a space before punctuation. Angry"

Always after the punctuation.

Doomfinger · 17/07/2012 13:38

I remember when I divorced my XH back in 2003, we used to call him DH as a joke (double meaning) and I certainly wasn't on MN back then!

TheVermiciousKnid · 17/07/2012 13:39

I agree. Smileys should follow punctuation marks and never, ever replace them. Whatever next?

tethersend · 17/07/2012 13:49

I feel I must admit this... Brace yourselves:

I hate 'judgey'.

There. I've said it.

GetOrfMoiiLand · 17/07/2012 13:49

Oh dear I sometimes use smileys to replace punctuation. I never knew it was shameful Sad

The only mumsnettism I cannot bear is the word 'norks', but don't think that is a purely mumsnet thing is it (just I hear it on here more than anywhere else)

I have seen a good "sanctimonious" for ages , there used to be a lot of it about.

ohChristFENTON · 17/07/2012 13:56

I haven't that should be.

Tee2072 · 17/07/2012 14:06

Oh, Tethers. ::sob::

I love sanctimonious. I get sad that I can't use it any more.

It's getting hard work being on here.
You can't use 'stabby' cause it's childish.
Can't use cunt because swearing shows a limited vocabulary.

The cunning restrictions make me stubby. Sanctemonious arses

[full house]

Tee2072 · 17/07/2012 14:13

Lemarch: are coding brackets for HTML and some CSS. As as sort of web designer it makes me stabby to see them used to indicate action. Going back to Usernet days, :: has been the standard.

And I luffs you Pag. Grin
