More traffic here.

DC1 is wondering why women of certain cultures and religions cover their hair and sometimes their faces. I have explained about differing religions etc but still the question persists as to why only the women, why don't the men have to.
Does anyone have a simple way to explain it to ages 5-12 (DC2 is joining in with it) ? I'm trying and obviously failing.

Deluded to think Islam has a woman's best interest at heart.

whenever i have been to siciliy to see family you cover your hair in church.

puffpants, i would argue that the uk/us poistion on women is far more damaging.

i wish i could go back to wearing hijab

we are Muslim women in the UK. We are part of the UK position.

Regardless of people's views on how others should dress, suggestions/insinuations that being a Muslim and being a British-born citizen are mutually exclusive should stop immediately.

This way of thinking is, to my mind, far more divisive than clothing choices.
