To Support Tsonga, NOT Andy Murray?

I really don't like watching Murray play. That, and he appears to be a miserable bastard.

Tsonga, on the other hand, seems lovely. He plays well and is really nice in interviews.

My conclusion: I will be rooting for Tsonga in the semis of Wimbledon unless guilted into supporting Murray Grin

I am not a hater. I would just like him to smile, and show this 'fun side' that all these miserable people have like Victoria Beckham.

Fecklessdizzy · 05/07/2012 17:27

I've just listened to Mats Wilander on 5live. He was my tennis dream when he used to play, all that Swedish gorgeousness wrapped up in one man Wink

limitedperiodonly · 05/07/2012 17:34

sugarice · 05/07/2012 17:34

Ooooooh Murray - I soooooooo wouldn't !!!

NutmegKate · 05/07/2012 17:58

My DH is French therefore is supporting Tsonga. I will be cheering on Murray as I always do.

It's always fun in our house if there is a GB v France scenario.

ChaoticismyLife · 05/07/2012 18:50

Maryz I clicked on that link whilst on my phone and sitting in a room with air conditioning.

I very nearly melted from the sudden heat Grin

bigTillyMint · 05/07/2012 18:52

So I am not the only one who thinks Tsonga is lush and young enough to be my son - DD said I was mad and that he looks like a hamsterHmm

And the French acccent.....

yellowraincoat · 05/07/2012 22:45

Lovely smile, Tsonga. Perfect teeth.

AmIthatbad · 06/07/2012 00:16

sugarice Mats Wilander was my huge crush. And he still looks hot now.

Those Scandinavians do age well

WilsonFrickett · 06/07/2012 00:45

I bow to no one in my support of Murray.

But oh my lord, thank you for that link.

Poulay · 06/07/2012 01:32

I was at Wimbledon watching Murray v Baghdatis and I was amused by one of the crowd who shouted out 'Come on Marcos, do it for England'. (Murray of course being Scottish, and previously said he was supporting 'Anyone but England' for the World Cup.)

CatPower · 06/07/2012 01:49

Murray's not miserable, he's just got a very, very, very dry sense of humour which some of our southern cousins seem unable to deal with.

I would LOVE Andy Murray to get to the finals, but if he doesn't I'll support Tsonga, he's a great player too.

awaynboilyurheid · 07/07/2012 10:01

Frillylemons Supporting Tsonga how is that working out for you?

NovackNGood · 07/07/2012 17:38

For goodness sake get over the ABE comment by Murray. He said it years ago in a banter conversation with Tim Henman. When Henman was that age he was whacking balls at ball girls and getting racket abuse calls for being so stroppy and only changed when his management threatened to drop him as he was unmarketable.
Even without making the final Murray had become more successful a British payer than tiger Tim.

Clawdy · 07/07/2012 17:49

Having watched Murray's ungracious, taciturn post-match interview (please don't tell me it showed his dry sense of humour - it didn't) I now look forward to watching him lose resoundingly,so he will have an excuse for that grim po-face.

NovackNGood · 07/07/2012 17:54

Jealousy is only hurting yourself.

Clawdy · 07/07/2012 17:56

But why would I be jealous,I don't even like tennis! Grin

NovackNGood · 07/07/2012 18:08

And yet you want to watch him lose resoundingly. How odd you must be. Do you often judge a person whom you do not know and have never met by just the heavily edited TV new appearance. Democracy is doomed. :)

CommunistMoon · 07/07/2012 18:20

Henman was a twat. As noted above, Murray is now considerably more successful than Henman, but seems to be even less liked. Funny, that. Perhaps it's because he's a mega-twat

NovackNGood · 07/07/2012 18:29

Or perhaps it's just because he is not fanciable like Nadal and rather than judging him by the tennis he is playing in a tennis tournament people want to use a different measurement as to whether they like him or not and are rather irrational in their hatred. He is not asking for votes and it is not big brother or some other tripe. He is playing his sport wonderfully as a professional sportsman.

Or does he also have to be fluent in six languages as Federer instead of just being better than Fred Perry.
