a set down and I'm beaming...

HappyJoyful (now there seems to be a misnomer if I have read this thread correctly)

Do you also type 'abit' in the same way that you type 'alot'.

It's just one of my pet peeves.

(I am far from perfect; I am always typing 'eachother' instead of 'each other' to list just one of my flaws)

NovackNGood · 04/07/2012 20:40

Well since he is now the most successful British male tennis player for the last 60 odd years you must be gutted.

PrettyCherryTrees · 04/07/2012 20:41

Sorry obvs dodn't mean Roget Federer I mean D Ferrer - so irritsted I'm mixing up my players!

PrettyCherryTrees · 04/07/2012 20:44

My typing has also gone to pot!

ChaoticismyLife · 04/07/2012 20:44

Hmm...maybe I should get into sport more Grin

NimpyWindowMash · 04/07/2012 20:48

What a fantastic match that was. I'm still beaming.
OP, have a happy, joyful evening. (YABU)

HappyJoyful · 04/07/2012 20:56

Prettycherrytrees, my point was I don't think someone commenting on my thoughts being based on my achievements was appropriate or in the slightest bit relevant.
All points taken on board..and did say very, very early on that I (goodness is everyone out there perfect) worded it incorrectly. Pity help someone not as thick skinned as me coming along and making a similar 'error' as some of the comments and posts were I felt below the belt is all I said.
Some people do need to loosen up and take things with a bit of a pinch of salt, no doubt same could be thrown back at me and no doubt will be.

OP posts:
yellowraincoat · 04/07/2012 20:59

Yes some people DO need to loosen up a little.

dementedma · 04/07/2012 21:01

anyone but England
anyone but Murray

redlac · 04/07/2012 21:06

 dementedma - is that your reason for not liking him? A 19 year old Scot having some banter with a fellow sportsman says Anyone but England after other sportsman said Anyone but Scotland?

ClaireBunting · 04/07/2012 21:07

It's nothing to do with your poor spelling, OP. Stop trying to hide behind that and "man up".

dranksinatra · 04/07/2012 21:11

So entertaining..this

dementedma · 04/07/2012 21:12

redlac also he's a bloody misery, takes his frustration out on linesmen and referees when things don't go his way, uses "injuries" as an excuse for poor performances, and is just extemely dull.
will that do?

redlac · 04/07/2012 21:16

thats a perfectly good reason for not liking him - using a throwaway remark said when is was a teenager and quoted out of context is a bit shite.

Each to their own :)

highriggs · 04/07/2012 21:16

Poor performances at 4 in the world and best tennis player GB has ever had. Would like to be so bad as that.

highriggs · 04/07/2012 21:18

Should be as bad as that !

JennyPiccolo · 04/07/2012 21:19

Op can you keep cheering for him to lose?Grin

Parrish · 04/07/2012 21:19

FWIW I have witnessed Andy, Jamie and Judy together & they really love each other....major teasing goes on between them. Just a normal family. And Judy is lovely, well respected, loves cake, is interested in getting everyone's kids more active through her Set4Sport campaign.

www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/3653446/Strawberries-cream-and-BBGs.html

About half way down that link there is a bit about henman being disqualified for the ball girl incident.

Just for those of you that didn't believe it.

MrsReiver · 04/07/2012 21:23

complexnumber You've probably seen this before but it bears repeating: The Alot is better than you

PrettyCherryTrees · 04/07/2012 21:23

OP I'm not sure how long you've been a Mumsnetter but generally speaking it is inadvisable to post an AIBU without wearing your hard hat and flame proof undies. You might not have been picked up on the typo if you'd been posting a thread generally considered to be 'reasonable'.

Unfortunately (from your point of view) lots of people didn't think you were reasonable. Your initial OP was ill judged. People didn't like it.

This is the first time for many years that Britain has a sports person has a good chance of winning Wimbledon a sporting event close to many people's hearts. Many people are supporting Andy Murray and would live it if he won.

In the midst of all the excitement you decided to that it would be a good idea to post that you hoped Andy would lose and that you were 'beaming'.

Peo

nancy75 · 04/07/2012 21:24

Tim hen man did hit a ball girl but it was not aimed at her on purpose, he hit the ball in anger at missing a shot.

NovackNGood · 04/07/2012 21:24

He is number 4 in the world which is purely judged n his performance week in week out.

He is now the best british player ever during the last 60 odd years.

No matter how well he plays and turns out for the Davis cup and Olympic teams to represent GB there are always the idiots in the crowds at British matches who shout out ´come on Tim´ and expect him to just take it as banter.

When Henman was young he belted a ball at a ball girl in frustration and he was hated for a while until he was better than rude jetski that plastic canadian who thought he could make history by changing his passport.

HappyJoyful · 04/07/2012 21:25

Am not hiding in the slightest or being 'un-manly' far as I can know.. my final comment was I said I take it all with pinch of salt and take points on board-just that wish things could be read as intended I guess and laughed all the way along at some of the comments as I posted.

OP posts:
HappyJoyful · 04/07/2012 21:26

Well put dementedma..
