We live in a semi but a semi that backs onto another house, so our entire back wall is another house's entire back wall IYSWIM. So upstairs we share a wall on our bedroom, the landing and our bathroom.

The only noise I ever hear from their house is that noise of a pull switch light cord. And the only time I ever hear it is just after I go to the bathroom at night before I go to bed. Whatever the time. I never hear it before or after. Without fail it is just after I leave the bathroom. I go to bed at very random times (DH works away...). it could be 8pm, it could be 1am. Whatever time it is, I always hear that cord go within 20 seconds of me leaving the bathroom...

Uuummmmmm AIBU to think I might be being spied on..??!!! How do I find out for sure?!!

After watching an episode of CSI where a gimp had been hidden in somebodies attic I've always had the occasional glance at ours to check it's not dirty, flipped around etc. Bit dramatic I know.

Ok strange update - DM looked after DS as I was working late and said tshe could hear lots of drilling coming from next door.......... coincidence?! Or is perv neighbour on MN and is quickly covering up his spy holes?! We've NEVER heard drilling before.......................!!!!

Right so what experiment am I doing tonight???

Just say if she ventured to the loft on her own, how would we/DH know what she'd done?? And what if the bogey man is real and has gotten gnocci?

You wouldn't drill to cover up a hole though would you? You'd fill with plaster/putty.

Next time, use the light but don't flush.
Water tank/timer or light pull sound can be crossed off the list.

And in case they are watching you (not through a camera), you must make it really funny to try to make them laugh and give themselves away.

If it's a camera, then make sure you wave at the little whole by the light pull chord.

Ok right so light on but no flush.

I'll throw a dirty look at the hole in the ceiling as well just in case.

You'll have to bear with me a bit though as I need to eat my dinner as I have literally only just got in!!!!
