It has gone really dark outside ie it's 0948am and the street lights have come on. Very very spooky.

Pissing down and thundering here in Birmingham. I work in a school, the heavens opened at lesson change-over, and now the kids are all absolutely soaked as well as screaming bonkers

PomBearWithAnOFRS · 28/06/2012 10:30

Oh Iawn :( Can we do anything to help? That must be so frustrating for you!

mangomadness · 28/06/2012 10:31

Same in Northish Shropshire zombie a few hours back. Luckily the guard basset was on hand to protect us.

MildredIsMyAlterEgo · 28/06/2012 10:32

Brown dust here (S E Wales - waves to softlysoftly )

When is the world ending? I've got a dental appointment this afternoon, is it worth going?

PinkPepper · 28/06/2012 10:34

Starting to pass now over Worcester, it's stopped raining and brightening up a teeeeny bit

Mrsjay · 28/06/2012 10:35

Brightening up here well its light grey Grin

Sparklingbrook · 28/06/2012 10:36

I'm not far away. Smile

PomBearWithAnOFRS · 28/06/2012 10:36

It's heading my way then :(

Sparklingbrook · 28/06/2012 10:38

The Sky signal is back and have turned the lights off. I will be going outside for a sniff in a minute. Love it after it's been all muggy and it rains.

IamtheZombie · 28/06/2012 10:38

It certainly sounded a bit like that, PomBear.

Zombie is normally quite a senisble Zombie, but it really made her uncomfortable. She kept looking at the ZombieCats to see how they were reacting. It didn't seem to bother them so she decided not to worry too much...

ChickensHaveNoLips · 28/06/2012 10:40

South Derbyshire here and it's very dark. Thunder rumbling in the distance. The chickens have legged it in to the hen house and the puppy is spinning in circles. No sports day for us.

Sparklingbrook · 28/06/2012 10:43

It's sunny!!!

Latara · 28/06/2012 10:47

It's not going to thunder or rain here in the SW right now; i know that because my cat has a 'funny 5 minutes' whenever the air pressure drops (& rain / storms are on the way).

She is lying flat out on the carpet pissed off because i haven't let her outside to terrifying the boy cats

Thunderstorms are scary because they seem a bit.. supernatural.
But they are not.
My Dad has books on cloud formations & the science behind all kinds of weather.

Obviously learning the science does make bad weather seem a lot less scary, but that's no fun!! It's fun to be scared!! So i haven't read the books in depth plus i don't understand them to be honest doh!

ApocalypseCheeseToastie · 28/06/2012 10:47

Probably, I've finally got a useable kitchen put in, god will be going out of his way to make sure I don't get to enjoy it !

molepom · 28/06/2012 10:49

Dark, rain and the odd rumble of thunder here in South Yorks.

JammySplodger · 28/06/2012 10:50

Will the apocalypse clean my oven for me? Rainy in Sheffield and getting darker.

totallyupskittled · 28/06/2012 10:50

Have your apocalypse now
Don't leave it til later
Have your apocalypse now
Don't be a procrastinator

(Anyone old enough to remember this from Smith and Jones?)

Boringly slightly grey in Gloucestershire. Would LOVE some thunder and lightening [Note to thunder: not a brown pants amount please]

Deadwasp · 28/06/2012 10:51

About 6 emergency vehicles have gone past sirens blaring. That was a bit scary.
Plus I've just eaten a bowl of icecream and cancelled my gym class so kind of hoping world does end or I'll be feeling guilty all day.

ratspeaker · 28/06/2012 10:54

I dont want to worry anyone but my eldest son started cleaning his room yesterday
WITHOUT BEING ASKED

and the younger one talked to me, 3 sentences, no grunts- thats not the right behaviour for a teen is it?

IawnCont · 28/06/2012 10:57

Thanks PomBear, nothing anyone could do (except me- Thinking of hypnotherapy if I wasn't so broke.) The sky is now that horrible muddy brown colour, and I want to cry. I have The Headache- Don't know if it's air pressure or stress that causes it, but I always get like this when it's stormy. I looked at the forecast and it's due to be bad about one this afternoon. I feel sick and I want to cry.

This is so fucking stupid. I am a grown up, an independent, a mother and a completely normal human being. But this has always floored me. I can remember whole days as a child where I would feel sick at school because it was slightly muggy and I'd have to walk home from school and it might thunder. I wouldn't go out if it looked like it might even be a slight possibility that there would be a storm. It actually affected my life a lot as a teenager.
And now I am trying to not let it hold me back, and not pass it on to my children, but it makes me quake with fear. My fear is that there will be a storm when I have to go and get DS1 from school, and I'll have to go out into the thunder and lightning. I'm crying just thinking about it.

Woodlands · 28/06/2012 11:02

Ooh I've got the brown dust on my newly washed car too.

PomBearWithAnOFRS · 28/06/2012 11:03

awwww Iawn
If the weather gets that bad, can you get a taxi to go collect DS? Or find someone to go for/with you?
I have a phobia of eight leggit beasties I can't even bring myself to type the word and it is horrible. It's like you say, you know it's irrational, but it just happens Confused
I read a biography once, called something like "the boy who was afraid of the rain" and he had a really bad phobia - that wasn't the be all and end all of his story (I have a feeling he was an author or actor or something) but it had affected his life from when he was small.
