It has gone really dark outside ie it's 0948am and the street lights have come on. Very very spooky.

I'm in Yorkshire and it's quite dark here, it's also deadly quiet. Confused

Softlysoftly · 28/06/2012 10:13

Brown dust on car here too South Wales, neighbours have a skip had put it down to that weird!

Was beautiful at 5 am here now dark and ominous looking

Meglet · 28/06/2012 10:13

The brown dust has appeared on my car this week (Hampshire).

Sparklingbrook · 28/06/2012 10:13

Still pitch black here.

Softlysoftly · 28/06/2012 10:14

Wow the end of the world has removed my ability to punctuate.

Sparklingbrook · 28/06/2012 10:14

I am sure the house rattled with that last clap of thunder. Sad

PomBearWithAnOFRS · 28/06/2012 10:16

The wind over the desert picks up sand, then the air stream comes over the sea to here, picking up moisture, then when it rains the sand falls too.
Or the sand falls on it's own before it rains cos it's heavier - one of the two Blush desperately tries to sound like I know what I'm talking about
And the world can't end today, my Apocalypse Chow book isn't here yet!

PomBearWithAnOFRS · 28/06/2012 10:16

and those erroneous apostrophes are going to haunt my inner nerd all day

gordyslovesheep · 28/06/2012 10:17

it is apocalyptic here ...scary darkness

abitcoldupnorth · 28/06/2012 10:17

Scotch mist here (eastern Scotland), as it has been for about a week and will be for another month according to long-term forecast Hmm

BumpingFuglies · 28/06/2012 10:18

Pom, I think we may be needing your OFRS, given the end is nigh. Grin

happybubblebrain · 28/06/2012 10:19

Right, I was going to clean the house today, I'm not going to bother now.

PomBearWithAnOFRS · 28/06/2012 10:19

Ooo listen for the sound of the Ninth Legion marching past abitcold - we told the DCs that story when were were in Edinburgh at Whit and they were almost convinced they could hear them tramping past... Grin twas vair atmospheric and pea-soupy

PomBearWithAnOFRS · 28/06/2012 10:20

get yer own! (and this one is erm, somewhat less full than it should be because I keep eating the emergency chocolate Blush )

abitcoldupnorth · 28/06/2012 10:21

hmm, might cheer us up a bit Grin god, I sound like Eeyore. SAD in June???

Deadwasp · 28/06/2012 10:21

If the world ends today, It's great to see that when we are knocking on heaven's door so many of us will have to admit that we spent our last few minutes posting on AIBU on mumsnet.
I feel I should be doing something important ...but what?

Thanks Pombear you explained that very well.

BumpingFuglies · 28/06/2012 10:21

Got wet wipes for the dust anyway.

BumpingFuglies · 28/06/2012 10:23

Exactly Deadwasp. No-one is going to say Oh, I wish I'd done the ironing. Grin

Sparklingbrook · 28/06/2012 10:24

This storm is never ending. Sad I bet there are a few rained off Sports Days.

IamtheZombie · 28/06/2012 10:26

We had this in South Shropshire about 2 hours ago. The strangest thing was that there was a continous rumble of thunder for over half an hour. There were a few lightening flashes followed by proper thunder a few seconds later. But the background rumble just went on and on. It waxed and waned in intensity but it never stopped completely. Zombie doesn't remember ever hearing something like that before.

IawnCont · 28/06/2012 10:27

Finding it pretty hard dearprudence as I hate that deathly stillness before a storm as well. I have learned a helpful technique from a Derren Brown book, wher I pretend I'm in a big cinema looking at myself being frightened on the screen, and somehow it calms me because I feel detached. At the moment, I have the works- Sweating, heartbeat, heightened sense of awareness, etc etc. I hate being this afraid :(

Sparklingbrook · 28/06/2012 10:28

I think that's what we have got Iam. It's just stopping now (I hope)

ASillyPhaseIAmGoingThrough · 28/06/2012 10:29

Brown dust all over my car this morning too. Lovely and sunny here.

PomBearWithAnOFRS · 28/06/2012 10:29

Was it the rumbling of ten thousand wheelie bins massing for The End Zombie ?

BumpingFuglies · 28/06/2012 10:29

Weird, Zombie. Apocalypse test run maybe? :)
