It has gone really dark outside ie it's 0948am and the street lights have come on. Very very spooky.

Oh! I've got the borwn dust on our car and I only had it cleaned yesterdy. I'm in SE though. Confused

BumpingFuglies · 28/06/2012 10:01

My car was like this today germy! Is desert dust or something? It's ok here (East Mids) but very humid.

Mrsjay · 28/06/2012 10:01

Brown dust really where do you live germy

Tee2072 · 28/06/2012 10:02

We're flooding in Belfast and haven't seen the sun in weeks.

dearprudence · 28/06/2012 10:02

It's my son's birthday today as well. If it's the end of the world I'm going to start on his cake.

IawnCont what are your coping strategies for your phobia - distraction? breathing?

germyrabbit · 28/06/2012 10:03

hertforshire

LentillyFart · 28/06/2012 10:03

I had the brown dust too Shirley - scratched my head, thought wtf and hosed it off thinking there must have been someone working nearby or something. So what was it?

Sparklingbrook · 28/06/2012 10:03

Loud thunder and it is absolutely pouring down.

How old is your son today Prudence?

ThymeLord · 28/06/2012 10:04

The dust is sand/grit from desert isn't it? Vaguely remember same thing happening a few years ago and it was blamed on dust from Sahara.

Mrsjay · 28/06/2012 10:04

Do you know what the dust is

EmpressOfTheSevenOceans · 28/06/2012 10:04

Sunny and hot in North London too, about to put washing out.

BettySwollocksandaCrustyRack · 28/06/2012 10:05

My car too germy - really pissed off as I only had it cleaned on Sunday!!

Mrsjay · 28/06/2012 10:05

Oh it is to do with the Gulf stream My dh is obsessed by the bloody gulf stream maybe thats why you have dust

ThymeLord · 28/06/2012 10:06

Sorry - sand from Sahara not dust. Blush

MammaTJ · 28/06/2012 10:07

We had a weird day a few years ago. None of the landlines in this town worked and all mobile signals were dow.

It was quite hard to keep the panic to a manageable level, however we are all still here and it all returned to normal the next day.

AmazingBouncingFerret · 28/06/2012 10:08

I had the brown stuff this morning!

I'm in Warwickshire/Leicestershire and it's slowly getting darker...

Sparklingbrook · 28/06/2012 10:08

If you get this rain, it will jet wash all the dust off.

manicbmc · 28/06/2012 10:08

Not noticed any brown stuff. Odd Hmm

DeWe · 28/06/2012 10:09

Doubt it's gulf stream. That's to do more with warm ocean currents. Why we're warmer than we should be as it brings warm water, and hence warmer air temperature.
I did a project on oceanography in my 2nd year at uni. Grin

But it's beautifully sunny here. I might even risk hanging the washing out before having to run and fetch it in 30 minutes later

DorisIsWaiting · 28/06/2012 10:09

We have the brown dust in Devon, neighbour washed her car yesterday she was V unimpressed!

Lifeissweet · 28/06/2012 10:09

Oooooh lightening! I love a good thunderstorm!

D0oinMeCleanin · 28/06/2012 10:09

Is starting to get darker here too and I ahve an unexpected day off so was going to town Sad Angry

Sparklingbrook · 28/06/2012 10:10

My gutters are now overflowing.

HeathRobinson · 28/06/2012 10:11

Brown dust here in Midlands too.

Deadwasp · 28/06/2012 10:11

It's not dark now just thunder and rain so possibly I was overreacting but I do think having some icecream for breakfast would still be sensible as it would calm my nerves and could someone explain how sand from the desert comes here but it's raining shouldn't the sand bring warm winds or something and does our rain ever go over to the desert I'm very confused now.
