The tube is 'orrible in the summer - but buses aren't that much better.

Baffling how many people don't open windows

Swatchdog · 27/06/2012 08:47

The tube is awful, more so at rush hour. London, however, isn't so bad.

Tube stations in central London really are close together - it can often be quicker to walk, and is almost always quicker to Borisbike, thus avoiding the horrors of the underground.

SoleSource · 27/06/2012 08:49

I used to walk instead of tubing it. Quicker but more sweat.

galletti · 27/06/2012 08:52

YANBU to hate the tube
YABU to hate London!

Olive28 · 27/06/2012 09:05

YANBU and YANBU.

germyrabbit · 27/06/2012 09:08

I'm sure london will get over you

YoulllaughAboutItOneDay · 27/06/2012 09:10

London is fab (except the awful property prices!). The tube is ok outside rush hours.

Rush hour tubes do indeed make you look like you have been dragged through a hedge backwards by the time you arrive at work!

sandyballs · 27/06/2012 09:18

YABU London is the best city in the world

squeakytoy · 27/06/2012 09:20

I would disagree that London is the best city in the world.. and I live here. Rome, San Francisco and Chicago are much better.

OatcakeCravings · 27/06/2012 09:23

YANBU the tube is hell on earth!

2to3 · 27/06/2012 09:27

London is lovely. Get on your bike and look around Smile

AuntieMaggie · 27/06/2012 13:33

i haven't got a bike here cos i'm here with work... have to book alltravel through an agent so train/tube it is...

i left the hotel all groomed and lovely - 20 mins later arrive at paddington looking like crap!!!

It depends when/where you go. The Northern/Central lines at rush hour can be pretty grim, especially in hot weather, you get used to it though.

I agree it's often nicer to walk if you can, even if its just to avoid the worst bit of your journey, and it can be quicker than you might imagine.

eurochick · 27/06/2012 13:40

I am a Londoner and no fan of the Tube. I live on an overground line and prefer to use trains whenever possible. And then I walk around town if feasible (and carry flats for this purpose). I take the bus if it is raining or I am in a hurry and the tube only as a last resort if none of the other options are practical.

VivaLeBeaver · 27/06/2012 13:43

I love the tube when I come to London. I would have no idea of bus routes and the tube is simple to work out.

In a nano second! Grin

Olive28 · 27/06/2012 15:17

Don't tell the Londoners how lovely some of the other places in the UK are. They'll all want to live there and turn them into mini Londons

JosephineCD · 27/06/2012 15:38

I would hate to live in London.

Foshizzle · 27/06/2012 15:41

I tend to appreciate London more when I'm somewhere else Wink

The tube is minging though, agreed.

yellowraincoat · 27/06/2012 15:41

This time of year, the centre is awful. So busy and why the hell do tourists and non-Londoners walk 4 abreast down the pavement at a snail's pace? Hurry the fuck up for fuck's sake.

Luckily I live in Whitechapel and work in Kensington so I bypass the centre entirely.

YANBU to hate the tube, especially the Central line, bloody hell it's so crowded.
YABU to hate London though, whaaaat?

picnicbasketcase · 27/06/2012 15:44

I bloody love the Tube, I think it's an incredible thing for Londoners to have but I say that as an occasional visitor. I would probably feel different if I had ever been on it at the height of summer.

badtime · 27/06/2012 15:50

I hate travelling by tube, but like that it is there when I need it. I live in zone 5, so it's barely London anyway, but I like having all the facilities of one of the greatest cities in the world within a half-hour journey. So I suppose YABU - there is more to London than the West End and the tube.

LemonTurd · 27/06/2012 15:54

YABVU to hate London.

I don't tube very much. I use overground and buses, both have aircon. The newer buses do, anyway.
