I keep hearing it on R2, it by a girl group called Stooshe.

Black Heart
I don't like it when you break me honey
Why'd you have to do that?
Tell me when you make these tears keep fallin?
Do you feel like a man?
Figure figure, there's no working you out whatsoever
Only one way I could sum you up all together
You've got a black heart
Daddy I've fallen for a monster
Somehow he's scaring me to death
Ah yes he is He's big and he's bad I love him like mad
Mamma he's the best I ever had
Daddy I've fallen for a monster
He got a black heart

so.... the premise is that this singer has fallen madly i love with a violent man who is scaring her to death, but she loves him like mad and hes the best she ever had, so thats ok then.... Confused

Is it just me or this really creepy.

I know it's just a song but some songs and lyrics are just wrong.

I love "fun" but I don't like the lyrics at the start, something about a scar I gave you months ago and now your trying to hide it, it just ruins what was a very good song for me.

Tambasher · 25/06/2012 17:55

Police, "every breathe you take" to me = stalking song. It reminds me of my Ex.

MrGrey · 25/06/2012 18:01

YABU. Firstly the song isn't necessarily about [hysical domestic violence I like this song and to me it can be about just a bad relationship.

Also songs don't have to be nice a fluffy, music means a lot of different things to a lot of different people even women in abusive relationships and people can relate to this song because believe it or not women often do love their abusers. It doesn't make it right or ok but it's a fact of life.

4lbsOfShiteInA2lbBag · 25/06/2012 18:10

Perfect Day by Lou Reed ia bout heroin use too...how many people have walked down the aisle to that? Or had it as a first dance? I know 2 of my friends have used it in their weddings.

Tambasher · 25/06/2012 18:11

Yeah MrsGrey that is the cycle of abuse unfortunately!

bastards

MuddlingMackem · 25/06/2012 19:06

Actually heard the lyrics in Gaultier's 'Someone that I used to know' and that sounded like it was about an emotionally abusive obsessive stalker ex to me. On the other hand I could just be reading too much into it. Hmm

MrGrey · 25/06/2012 19:10

Muddling you are definitely reading to much into that.

'Somebody that I used to know', is about a guy that hasn't treated his girlfriend very good, probably doesn't even love her. But when she cuts him out of her life he doesn't like it and perhaps even has regrets.

The whole 'I don't want you but don't want anyone else to have you'.

CaveMum · 25/06/2012 19:12

Tambasher, Every Breath You Take is a song about a stalker.

Ebenzeer Goode, anyone? Wink

squeakytoy · 25/06/2012 19:14

I hope everyone knows what the 80's classic White Lines was about... it certainly wasnt road traffic direction... Wink

StealthPolarBear · 25/06/2012 19:17

No Shock
Wink

squeakytoy · 25/06/2012 19:19

Even Meatloaf did a song called "I'll kill you if you dont come back"... but I have never heard of anyone pleading guilty to murder because of MeatLoafs songs... yet..

Tambasher · 25/06/2012 19:21

Cavemum thanks Smile I used to play it to my ex, he used to stalk me. Grin I did well!!

cocolepew · 25/06/2012 19:23

Another shocker, Heroin by The Velvet Underground is about drugs.

Yes! Really.

yellowraincoat · 25/06/2012 19:24

No way cocolepew, it's about LOVE and HAPPINESS.

FullBeam · 25/06/2012 19:25

I find that Stooshe song disturbing too! I think it's the cheerful, poppy way in which it is delivered that makes it so unnerving.

But, if you think of the Hunny Monster whilst singing along to it, it takes away some the abusive associations.

Alternatively, listen to some Beyonce/Sasha Fierce to counter the anti-feminism message.

cocolepew · 25/06/2012 19:25

Well yeah but only for the first half hour.

MrGrey · 25/06/2012 19:27

Fullbeam, Beyonce to counter the anti feminism? Doubt it.

yellowraincoat · 25/06/2012 19:29

The day I look to Beyonce for feminist messages will be the day I look to the Velvet Underground for anti-drugs advice.

spongebrainfatpants · 25/06/2012 19:30

I've always loved the song, golden brown. It never made me want to take heroin though!
I never read too much into song lyrics.
Many were written while the writer was high!

iklboo · 25/06/2012 19:31

When I first heard it I thought maybe it was from a stage show along the lines of Little Shop Of Horrors or something Blush

headfairy · 25/06/2012 19:31

Slightly OT, my friend got married to a Mr Jones becoming Mrs Jones in the process. The first dance at her wedding was...

Me and Mrs Jones.

A song about someone having an affair.

Some people are really dumb when it comes to chosing their songs at weddings :o

MrGrey · 25/06/2012 19:33

Headfairy that made me laugh. Unless they met through an affair?

It really annoys me when people don't listen or understand the lyrics of a song.

iklboo · 25/06/2012 19:35

DJs playing 'Band Of Gold' at weddings. It's about the bloke fecking off & leaving her!
