I keep hearing it on R2, it by a girl group called Stooshe.

Black Heart
I don't like it when you break me honey
Why'd you have to do that?
Tell me when you make these tears keep fallin?
Do you feel like a man?
Figure figure, there's no working you out whatsoever
Only one way I could sum you up all together
You've got a black heart
Daddy I've fallen for a monster
Somehow he's scaring me to death
Ah yes he is He's big and he's bad I love him like mad
Mamma he's the best I ever had
Daddy I've fallen for a monster
He got a black heart

so.... the premise is that this singer has fallen madly i love with a violent man who is scaring her to death, but she loves him like mad and hes the best she ever had, so thats ok then.... Confused

Is it just me or this really creepy.

Has anyone heard that equally terrible Britney Spears song...something like "Mummy I'm in love with a criminal...and this sort of love isn't natural it's physical" or something...

She also says "he's a bum bum bum bum"

Pendeen · 25/06/2012 11:38

Third rate song from fourth rate singers.

squeakytoy · 25/06/2012 11:48

it is a song, nothing more...

anyone remember the Nick Cave duet with Kylie Minogue...

"On the third day he took me to the river
He showed me the roses and we kissed
And the last thing I heard was a muttered word
As he stood smiling above me with a rock in his fist"

Hownoobrooncoo · 25/06/2012 12:11

Don't know the song but it sounds a bit more thought out and thought provoking than some of the other tosh out there.

BelieveInPink · 25/06/2012 12:41

I knew which song you meant before I even opened the thread.

I don't like it. Young girls are buying this song.

PomBearWithAnOFRS · 25/06/2012 13:09

Wait - Golden Brown is about drugs? Confused I never knew that Blush

PuppyMonkey · 25/06/2012 13:16

It was my DP who first pointed this song out to me, he felt a bit Hmm about the message.

I interpret it that she's fallen for the monster with the black heart and she's scared of him but, hey, he's the best she's ever had so ho hum. What can a girl do? Hmm

carabos · 25/06/2012 15:19

I've been hearing that as "Daddy I've fallen for a bastard" Blush.

CrunchyFrog · 25/06/2012 15:36

This thread is reminding me of

yellowraincoat · 25/06/2012 15:46

That is a really really bad song. It's so asinine. I suppose kids hear the lyrics subconciously but honestly, most probably won't even think about them for a second.

The Rihanna Eminem song was much debated on feminist websites when it was released PomBears. To my ears, it sounds quite critical of DV and I think it could be a good starting point for a discussion about it with children. I know others thought it was promoting DV though.

Elesbe · 25/06/2012 15:58

I thought I was the only one with the same opinion as OP. I turn the radio off, especially if I'm in the car!

MackerelOfFact · 25/06/2012 15:59

There's a Florence and the Machine song with the lyrics "a kiss with a fist is better than none". I get stabby every time I hear it.

paulapantsdown · 25/06/2012 16:07

hang on .. this is getting complicated ... I am having a right old singalong with the kids the Toms Jones Delilah right now ... just at the bit where he stabs her to death. It it one of my favourite songs as a kid! I suppose thats more a 'cartoony' song with a proper narrative story though.

Paula you've just reminded me about the Kenny Rogers song - Coward of the County.

And yes, Golden Brown is specifically about heroin.

Westcountrylovescheese · 25/06/2012 16:19

How many people have The Police song 'Every breath you take' as a wedding song?

Coca · 25/06/2012 16:21

This song by The Wanted always makes me think of creepy guys in nightclubs who try and get girls drunk

Turn the lights out now
Now I'll take you by the hand
Hand you another drink
Drink it if you can
Can you spend a little time,
Time is slipping away,
Away from us so stay,
Stay with me I can make,
Make you glad you came

jamdonut · 25/06/2012 16:22

Tom Jones " She stood there laughing,
I felt the knife in my hand and she laughed no more..."

Nice.Hmm

jamdonut · 25/06/2012 16:23

Crap! I didn't realise someone had already mentioned Delilah! Blush Blush

DesperatelySeekingSedatives · 25/06/2012 16:32

The worst one I heard the other day went something like "I make ya call me Daddy even though you aint my daughter". Hmm yuck.

Don't know who's responsible for that one who's song that is though. Can't remember. It's creepy anyway.

cocolepew · 25/06/2012 16:40

This has just been on mtv. I moaned about it and DD lost the bap and switched over. She says its just a song too. Apparently shaznay from all saints wrote it.

Why has my comment been deleted??? I wasn't meaning to offend anyone.

It was not even a harsh comment.

lastnerve · 25/06/2012 17:41

I apologize If I offended anyone with that comment.

What I meant was, anyone influenced significantly by a pop song would have to be quite mentally vulnerable.

If you have been brought up in a stable environment and have a good capacity of thought I would be very surprised if a song influence you're way of thinking.

Which is why I mentioned SN , not in a nasty way just that having any makes you more vulnerable to messages/material that would wash over most people. again sorry If I caused any offense.
