If my DH had been in hospital since Mon I would've visited him more than once......

Is it just me or is it a little odd that the Queen has only been to see Philip once since Monday? Confused

Or was that the "official" visit and she gets bundled in the back entrance a couple of times a day Grin.

Seems a little harsh on him otherwise?

(disclaimer - I know there are things happening in Syria and I am worrying about that too :) )

Like you say, you don't know for sure what she has done. OTOH she could be enjoying the space Grin

doggiemumma · 08/06/2012 19:53

i suppose she has had a lot of public engagements this week! I have also thought the same as you but what you have to remember that if it were us mere mortals with a UTI we would lucky to receive a bloody telephone consultation via nhs direct. Because he is who he is, he gets a comfy hospital bed and 24 hours TLC. Maybe its not that serious

sensuallettuce · 08/06/2012 19:54

Has she? I hadn't noticed?!

twofurryones · 08/06/2012 19:54

This has been bothering me too, although as a confirmed republican I do quite enjoy pointing out to my queen loving DH that she clearly isn't quite as nice as he thinks she is Wink

MsKittyFane · 08/06/2012 19:55

I'm sure she's been there more often than that but has only been spotted once. The papers are vile. We've had the jubilee now it's time to make up some c**p to put her in a bad light.

headfairy · 08/06/2012 19:55

She's sleeping starfish like in her bed, and enjoying having total control of the telly remote :o

Perhaps she's snuck in the back door . He's had visitors most days hasn't he. And being sensible for a moment, I'm sure she's got official engagements she still has to keep.

sensuallettuce · 08/06/2012 19:56

Has this been in the paper already? Shock

And why did Sophie and Ed Wessex arrive in separate cars on Tuesday? Seemed a bit Wales 's esque?

doggiemumma · 08/06/2012 19:58

My mum says shes not surprised he got a cold in his back after having to stand there in all that rain Grin Im a little bit scared of the queen myself, she never smiles and looks like my MIL (who smiles often and is lovely)

MsKittyFane · 08/06/2012 19:58

headfairy The royals have their own bedrooms surely according to the films I've watched Phillip has to knock and wait to be invited in.

SecretNutellaFix · 08/06/2012 19:58

Visitors are probably restricted due to his age and infirmity, plus what's to say she hasn't been using skype to chat to him in the evenings after all her official engagements?

You all talk about her enjoying the peace, what about Philip?Grin

sensuallettuce · 08/06/2012 19:59

Yes - I have heard this too MsKittyFane although I bet he waits a hell of a lot longer than he used to now she's 86 Grin

headfairy · 08/06/2012 19:59

MsKitty We'd have to ask Michael Fagin about that. It's never been mentioned where Prince Phil was when he broke in to the Queen's bedroom.

weatherrain · 08/06/2012 20:00

I wondered about this too. And she spent a whole fifteen minutes visiting him Shock. But seriously, maybe she pops in and sees him more often and this one official one made the news. She's also busier than a lot of other people so maybe she didn't have the time.

MsKittyFane · 08/06/2012 20:00

sensual I don't know! I thought that that's where you got this inside information!! I'll blame the press anyway! Scumbags!

JumpingThroughHoops · 08/06/2012 20:00

Does duty come before family or family before duty? Because last time she put family before duty (keeping those boys up at Balmoral when their mother died and away from the press) she was absolutely slated for it.

Sarcalogos · 08/06/2012 20:01

She's 86 and been running around the country all week.

Most people her age would have only visited once as they couldn't manage the walk more often!!

sensuallettuce · 08/06/2012 20:02

I am not the press - it funny though Grin

my parents are

OP posts:
headfairy · 08/06/2012 20:02

the only time I've had elderly relatives in hospital, we've stayed with them as long as we could only to make sure they ate properly as the nursing staff were too busy to help, and help take them to the bathroom. I don't suppose HM has to worry about that sort of thing with Phil.

Gingefringe · 08/06/2012 20:02

Maybe she sneaked in through the back door in her pyjamas and uggs.

MsKittyFane · 08/06/2012 20:03

I'm going to suggest having 'a royal arrangement' to Mr. Fane.
Poor Phillip. He probably doesn't bother nowadays.

NovackNGood · 08/06/2012 20:03

Considering that they lead fairly separate lives day to day except from lunch or dinner together HM and HRH can often be many mile apart t separate visits so you are being unreasonable. Not everyone feels the need to live in their spouses pocket all day nor does it mean their love is any less great.

MsKittyFane · 08/06/2012 20:05

Blush sensual real press or just speculative gossipers? :o
If your parents are real press, I apologise for calling them scumbags! :o

RabbitsMakeBrownEggs · 08/06/2012 20:06

Elderly people with UTIs quite frequently get hospital admissions to the poster who commented about mere mortals only getting an NHS Direct call. They are at a higher risk of complications because kidney function declines over the years. I know too much about kidney problems, alas.

sensuallettuce · 08/06/2012 20:07

Real press and retired Grin Everyone is safe!!

And growing up in that world a lot of them are scumbags mainly alcoholics
