to wonder if anyone uses fountain pens anymore?

I do use them sometimes, but they always seem to leak, dry up etc. I have a Mont Blanc which my husband bought me for my birthday a couple of years ago, which has never worked - or perhaps it is something to do with the way I use it....

I always think that letters written in ink look so elegant, so perhaps I should persevere: or am I just old fashioned?

I do

RepublicaEuphemia · 05/06/2012 18:31

Since I discovered erasable ink ones in Paperchase, yes!

BelleDameSansMerci · 05/06/2012 18:31

Me too.

I use a fountain pen most of the time - it is lovely to write with and my writing looks much nicer

SoldeInvierno · 05/06/2012 18:32

I use a fountain pen at work, but admitedly I do very little writing. In DS's school they have to use a fountain pen from Y5 onwards.

gettingeasier · 05/06/2012 18:34

Me too , its a Parker I've had for years Smile

HolofernesesHead · 05/06/2012 18:35

Ys, I love mine.

Sarcalogos · 05/06/2012 18:36

I bought one for wedding related usage- invitations, stationary etc...

Keep it now in case I ever get another urge to do excessively neat craft.

A lot of kids I teach use them.

Bagofholly · 05/06/2012 18:36

I do, for Important Things. If you've got a faulty Mont Blanc, take it back!

Dropdeadfred · 05/06/2012 18:37

I have a mont blanc fountain pen that does work Grin

BikeRunSki · 05/06/2012 18:37

I do, a Schaeffer I got for my 18th birthday, 23 years ago. My mother has a Schaeffer she got for her 21st, that is still in daily use - she is 69 now!

SquidgyBiscuits · 05/06/2012 18:37

Yes. It makes my usually unreadable writing look almost passable as neat.

conorsrockers · 05/06/2012 18:38

I use my Parker - have a couple with different size nibs ...

saggarmakersbottomknocker · 05/06/2012 18:38

I use mine. I like green ink.

HolofernesesHead · 05/06/2012 18:39

BIM that fountain pens are much better for the environment than disposables. That's a whole lot of plastic that gets thrown away!

TheCunnyFunt · 05/06/2012 18:42

I can't use fountain pens. I tend to get blobs of ink everywhere. As my mums old teacher told her (she can't use them either) "It looks as if a spider has jumped in an ink pot and ran all over the page!" Blush

I do: I have a Cross one at home and a Parker at work and use them for nearly everything. I think they work better if you use them regularly. I lost the Parker for a while and when I found it again it kept drying up and refusing to write for the first morning of using it.

HolofernesesHead · 05/06/2012 18:52

Toughas, it is Violette Pensee that you use? It's gorgeous!

TangerinePuppet · 05/06/2012 18:54

I use a bog standard Parker - does wonders for my handwriting, which is a complete state otherwise.

Yep, I use a Parker Calligraphy pen, my writing just doesn't look the same in biro.

Grumpystiltskin · 05/06/2012 18:59

I do. Permanent black ink froman ink pot on my desk at home. I love it!

OwlMother · 05/06/2012 19:01

I have an old Waterman one that I am very attached to. Also, d1 has three, all with fab graphic patterns. His school insist on them from p6. As a leftie it took him a while to get used to it but his penmanship is now fabulous.

GingerWrath · 05/06/2012 19:02

I have fabulously elegant shopping lists!
