to wonder if anyone uses fountain pens anymore?

I do use them sometimes, but they always seem to leak, dry up etc. I have a Mont Blanc which my husband bought me for my birthday a couple of years ago, which has never worked - or perhaps it is something to do with the way I use it....

I always think that letters written in ink look so elegant, so perhaps I should persevere: or am I just old fashioned?

Altho' I own one, I think MB are over-rated. Mine came from Costco so I got it at a good price. www.penshop.co.uk and www.penhome.co.uk are good sites. The latter having lovely inexpensive (imo) vintage pens. waterman/Cross/Elysee/Parker are all good makes. I was once going to buy a lovely lacquered Cartier ball-pen until I realised it took Parker refills! Nice pen but I was paying out for a v.expensive Parker.

Oooh, thanks for all your replies - am feeling really inspired to give it another go. i will definitely have my MB pen serviced and will explore Cross, as everyone seems to give them a good write up (no pun intended!).

Mmm, this thread is making me want to get out my old Waterman fountain pen which I use for a few days every few years!! I did use it more about 15 years ago when I first got it though, but never did like the matching rollerball I got. Somehow a vision Elite few £ disposable pen writes so much more nicely!

The use of a fountain pen is compulsory at DS's school, and DH uses one just because he likes them. We've got about 10. Grin.
