No Jubilee or Olympics tat flying off the local Co-Op shelves here...the display looks a bit dusty and neglected to be honest. We're just so far away from it all to be honest, quite happy with our hosepipe-ban free, and midgie-filled, lifestyles to care perhaps?

Agree that West Coast of Scotland is infected with football-fuelled Sectarianism, boak, and therefore the 'Union' flag is intrinsically linked with Rangers F.C.

NoracknGood You suggested flying the Lion Rampant as an alternative? Afraid we'd all be chucked in the Tower (theoretically) if we did. Officially (and historically) The 'Lion' Flag is only allowed to be flown by a monarch, and today it is traditionally flown at royal residences when the Queen is NOT in residence. There are also other officials, such as the Lord High Commissioner to the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland, Lord Lyon King of Arms and the Royal Regiment of Scotland, who are allowed to fly this flag. According to an Act of Parliament, passed in 1672, it is an offense for any private citizen or corporate body to fly or wave this flag.

Ta for the extra holiday though Lizzie.

Just for the record , I am a proud Scottish Nationalist (as in member of the party), and want independence for Scotland. Does it mean that I hate the English? Definitely not. It DOES mean I hate Cameron et al, and wasn't that keen on Gordon Brown/Blair either. I think tbh that a lot of Scots are going that way, cos they think it can't be any bloody worse than the successive parliaments we have had in.

I actually wish half my English friends could join us! :o

fedupofnamechanging · 01/06/2012 15:24

I always used to think it couldn't get any worse, but then it does!

I think a danger for Scotland, re independence, is that they won't actually get it, but will end up exchanging rule from Westminster for rule from Brussels.

Grin at the ice cream scoop

quoteunquote · 01/06/2012 16:57

I've been wondering who I could buy it for.

Puremince · 01/06/2012 17:56

I was in M&S today and asked the young lad on the till if the Jubilee stuff was selling. "Jubilee?" he asked, looking puzzled. "You know, the Union Jack stuff" I explained helpfully. "Oh, um, yeah, I suppose some of it's selling." he replied vaguely.

I have my eyes on the marshmallows - as soon as they're half price I'm buying them!!

FayeGovan · 01/06/2012 23:52

froze them and the kids love them

thats the closest I'll get

AlbertoFrog · 02/06/2012 11:03

red kola jubilys!

Now you're talking.

And for those who ARE into celebrating you could make lemonade ones and blueberry ones too. Sorted.

KatieScarlett2833 · 02/06/2012 11:18

It's great living in Scotland.

The only bunting I have seen so far is in ASDA.

FanjoForTheMammaries yesterday 08:24:

"no I think you misunderstand, we don't all hate the English, we don't actually give much thought to them in the grand scheme of things" (added emphasis mine)

Sorry but that made me laugh. You just keep telling yourself that, love Grin

prettybird · 02/06/2012 12:52

Orange=Jubilee in West of Scotland :(

prettybird · 02/06/2012 12:56

How Scotland will be celebrating - doesn't look like a lot. Nothing particularly close to me - unless you count the party at the local Orange Lodge that the Council has funded Hmm

FannyFifer · 02/06/2012 13:14

How lovely of the Labour run Glasgow City council to fund the Orange lodge jubilee celebrations, wtaf!!
Not good, not good at all. SadAngry

FannyFifer · 02/06/2012 13:29

FanjoForHerMajesty · 02/06/2012 18:53
