any shop displays I've seen (yes you M&S) dont look like they are selling

personally I'd rather give my money away than but a union jack mug/various shite, but maybe thats just me

so is anyone up here buying into all the hype?

OP posts:
OutragedAtThePriceOfFreddos · 31/05/2012 11:33

Yes, but us English like to share!

JennyPiccolo · 31/05/2012 11:33

haha, soozy, someone points that out every time.

I bought a 'jubilee' dine in for 2 this morning. Thanks Queenchops!

Nothing else planned.

ClaimedByMe · 31/05/2012 11:35

I havent bought anything and I dont know anyone who has but the house is slowly filling up with red, white and blue tat the children are making at school, clubs etc

tittytittyhanghang · 31/05/2012 11:37

was actually a little surprised to see jubilee stuff for sale in tescos etc. I don't know of anyone celebrating it, and definitely not heard of any street parties!

FannyFifer · 31/05/2012 11:37

The shops are full of red white and blue tat, I wouldn't dream of buying any of it and don't know anyone who would.

JayelleBee · 31/05/2012 11:38

I've not. Both my kids have parties and are doing the red, white and blue thing. Why not, if they're enjoying themselves?

Won't buy any Jubilee tat myself and avoiding products that have shoved a Union flag on their packaging, where I can (I do my supermarket shop online so sometimes can't help it.

squoosh · 31/05/2012 11:38

Apparently Brad and Angelina are planning to attend their local village Jubliee celebrations. I think I could be persuaded to put my anti Monarchy feelings aside for one day in order to share a jug of Pimms and a scotch egg with Bradders.

FoofFighter · 31/05/2012 11:38

So only 1000 parties in Scotland? well could it posssssssssibly be that our population isn't as big as say oooh Engerland?

Why does everything have to be an England vs Scotland thing Hmm

squoosh · 31/05/2012 11:39

100 not 1000

squoosh · 31/05/2012 11:39

It wasn't an England v Scottish thing it was a statistic I read on Twitter this morning.

FoofFighter · 31/05/2012 11:40

apols typo

FoofFighter · 31/05/2012 11:40

No that' wasn't to you squoosh, was bascially the whole thread.

JennyPiccolo · 31/05/2012 11:41

think they're all in edinburgh as well. There's a lot of chat about 'butcher's aprons' on my facebook.

squoosh · 31/05/2012 11:42

This made me giggle.

I haven't bought anything but dds were given hats, flags and those party blower things at Nursery Jubilee party yesterday. There was also a red, white, and blue dress code. Most children were in blue and white. Mine wore pink. That's all they will wear.

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 31/05/2012 11:45

we're going camping in the lakes this weekend, so YES i've bought bunting, paper plates, cups and paper table cloth, 2 for a pahnd. and someone bought the kids t-shirts with corgis on them. v subtle. Wink

OldGreyWiffleTest · 31/05/2012 11:47

Ah, well, OP - once you've got independence you can do what you like and pay for your own prescriptions and university fees. Then you'll truly be free of us English won't you?

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 31/05/2012 11:54

oh do be quiets, oldgrey. scotland puts more into the pot than it takes out.

OutragedAtThePriceOfFreddos · 31/05/2012 11:58

Let's face it, the Scots don't usually take much persuading to have a party and celebrate. Wonder why they don't want to celebrate this?

JennyPiccolo · 31/05/2012 11:58

YAWN. Away and educate yerself OldGrey.

JennyPiccolo · 31/05/2012 12:00

Cos it just doesnt mean anything to us. To me, anyway. I can't speak for the whole country.

FoofFighter · 31/05/2012 12:00

Would just like to clarify the Op's question is it just Scottish Mners you want or can anyone living in Scotland answer?

GentleOtter · 31/05/2012 12:01

Dh bought kitchen roll which had little crowns and flags on it and I bought the children a small cake each in the guise of a marzipan corgi. Corgis still in the box, stale and uneaten.
So apart from wasted corgis and emergency toilet roll, no to your question, OP.

Puremince · 31/05/2012 12:02

Not bought anything on purpose, and I'm not going to. WHSmith in Aberdeen have mixed some unsold Royal Wedding stuff in with the Jubilee stuff!

Tesco and Poundland are full of jubilee tat - I'll be very interested to know how much they're actually managing to sell.

Whitamakafullo · 31/05/2012 12:03

I've not bought anything for the Jubilee as such, but I have bought a couple of Team GB things for te kids connected to the Olympics

The school are having a garden party for the jubilee tomorrow and have asked all the children to design a crown [glances out the window at the rain pishing down Sad]
