It just got me thinking...

Does anyone know, or has anyone heard any man express a big preference either way?

I hear a lot about 'men' especially those under 30 'expecting' women to be pubic hair free but sadly not knowing many men under 30 I have no idea if this is true.

In my youth, lads used to joke about preferring a 'shaven haven' but IMO they were so thankful to be allowed near a woman's nether regions, that in reality they were none too fussy. Other than that I've never heard anyone express a definite preference

Just curious (and apologise about the whole thread from a thread thing)

Quite, Nowthenwreck.

And, I repeat, if it was more healthy and hygenic to resemble a small child when old enough to bleed and fuck, then I'm guessing evolution would have made us that way?

Megatron · 29/05/2012 21:00

Yes really Duke Grin I can never imagine having a chat with someone and wondering what their muff looks like at the same time.

TheGrandOldDuke · 29/05/2012 21:02

I must be weird then Grin

Megatron · 29/05/2012 21:06

I am actually sitting here thinking about my friends' muffs now. I am not entirely happy with this and blame you Duke. You have turned me into a muff guesser.

thebody · 29/05/2012 21:08

Tickle tackle, go to bed at once you far too young for the tales of old fanny etiquette in here, ha ha,

Yellow raincoat yes read threads someone( can't be arsed to chek) did mention hairy minge = less germs

And anyway who cares ?

I neverlook at a woman and wonder if she had a hairy fandango.

Each to own.

cory · 29/05/2012 21:10

I have been ill on and off since November with an infected cyst in my armpit- basically a golf balled sized inflamed swelling that hurts like hell and is only kept under some kind of control with heavy antibiotics while I am on the waiting list for my second lot of surgery. Every single health professional I have seen has suggested that the most likely cause is damage from shaving. The thought of doing something similar to my fanjo.... Shock

thebody · 29/05/2012 21:10

Pish but do you shave legs and pits? If yes why not fanny? Can't see difference but again each to their own.

MuddyDogs · 29/05/2012 21:11

Ew. I'm married so it's not an issue Wink but if my partner expressed a preference for a grown woman to be bald down below I'd RUN. Mega-creepy and inappropriate.

thebody · 29/05/2012 21:13

Cory, as a district nurse it's an In growing hair that causes this commen condition and it happens if you shave or don't its the root of the hair not the length.

Very commen in pits and unfortunately the arse.

Nothing to do with shaving as more commen in men.

thebody · 29/05/2012 21:14

Muddy, guess most are married in the thread, me 24 years and 4 kids and I like to b bare.

Not dh pressure.

freerangeeggs · 29/05/2012 21:15

I'm fascinated and horrified by all these tales of shaven fannies!! Another incentive for me to stick with my lovely DP, who doesn't care enough for me to bother.

Admittedly it does get a bit feral down there at times but I love my lovely tufty fanjo. I'm cultivating a wee fauxhawk down there at the mo.

And to all those people who are talking about sweat - WTAF?? I can honestly say I have never thought to myself, "oh my minge is getting a bit sweaty."

The same goes for the person who rather bizarrely suggested that you shit on it Confused

Megatron · 29/05/2012 21:32

Sidge · 29/05/2012 21:34

I've been a practice nurse for 12.5 years now and have definitely noticed that the trend for women is to remove most of, if not all, their pubes.

I rarely see a woman under 50 with a natural bush. Even if they have pubes they've been seriously reduced by waxing/creaming/shaving.

Bluegrass · 29/05/2012 21:35

It is common nowadays for women to get very vocal about how horrible men look with hairy backs, which is also perfectly natural but a lot of guys do now wax (or just feel embarrassed about it). I guess they are being oppressed by women who want them to look like children !

Pishspice · 29/05/2012 21:42

I know I am going to bitterly regret asking this, but my fear with a shaven fanjo would be ahem hungry front bottom Blush.

yellowraincoat · 29/05/2012 21:47

Oh my goodness, Bluegrass, you are a wheeze.

You are not exactly comparing like with like, since if a woman had a hairy back, she'd get the same comments or worse.

Pishspice · 29/05/2012 21:53

Nothing wrong with hairy backs or chests. Would never expect DH to be waxed just because I might prefer it ( whihc I don't!).

NurseBernard · 29/05/2012 21:54

The answers to this thread are a total red herring. Don't expect to draw any meaningful conclusions...

  1. Most MNers are Mums - ergo most are over a certain age - ergo most of their partners are too. The pressure for women to be hair-free comes, in the main, from younger men who have zero experience of bushes as nature intended. Under 25, I'd say.
  1. Asking women what their partners prefer is not going to yield correct answers. What many (not all!) men say to their partner and what they privately think are often too very different things.

So, ask a woman what her partner thinks and she'll give his 'answer'. Ask a group of zeitgeist-influenced 25 year old men what they think and you'll probably get quite a different answer...

I'm not saying the men are lying. I'm just saying a bit of toe-ing the line, sparing feelings and white lying is going on. I would never have a naked fanjo and my DH ostensibly has no preference. But I'm 38, wed, with kids and with someone I love and like. There's no pressure on me. It's more my DD that I worry for, in this sort of culture...

Pishspice · 29/05/2012 21:58

I agree nursebernard.

Women's fanjos are not meant to be bare. It really is that simple.

Whatmeworry · 29/05/2012 21:59

I've yet to see a bloke moan about the topiary while plowing the furrow :o

Pishspice · 29/05/2012 22:02

I am very skinny and have a little body. I would look about 10 with a shaved muff. If DH wanted to shag me looking like that I would be very worried. The ony thing that stops me looking like a small child is pubic hair and face wrinkles.

NowThenWreck · 29/05/2012 22:02

I slept with a 25 year old only last year, and he was definitely not horrified!
What worries me, is that, if women are getting rid of all pubes, their sons will never realise women are supposed to have hair there.
I have a son, and he has seen me get out of the shower etc. When he goes thru puberty, he will grow hair on his genital area. He knows that mum and dad have hair there, and so when this happens, he will know it is part of growing up.
If he had only ever seen hairless adults, he would find the whole thing really odd, and would truly be horrified upon encountering muff hair when he is older.
I like to think I set an example Wink.

FioFio · 29/05/2012 22:08

i think it depends on what your central heating is like

ours isn't very efficient and we will take any avialable option to keep warm and to save the planet

Bluegrass · 29/05/2012 22:21

Yellow - why does it matter if it is not like for like? Back hair on men is perfectly natural but the current trend is to say it looks revolting and either mock it or make them get rid of it, that is a fashion imposed on men. It is also pretty rare these days to see very much chest hair.

Women are naturally less hairy (ie not on chests or backs usually) but are also subject to hair removal fashions which at the moment include pubic hair.

You don't have to have men and women removing hair in an identical way to see that both sexes are subject to changing pressure and fashions.

yellowraincoat · 29/05/2012 22:24

I don't think anyone said that men aren't subject to pressure, did they? Or did I miss something?
