Because yet again I have the most horrific shaving rash! He says he doesn't mind but I do... Now I feel silly Blush

While we're here does anyone else suffer from the BURN and HORRID ingrown hairs? How do you prevent them.. I'm sick to death.

I wish I could just go all european and not do hair removal but it makes me itchy thinking about it.

It's a brick wall WhosPickleisThatOnion

I was asked why. I gave my personal reasons for doing to my body what I choose to do. I was then asked "but WHY?".

yellowraincoat · 28/05/2012 22:08

I never said anything about oppression. But yes, I have been socially conditioned to eat with a knife and fork, so you're sort of proving my point for me.

Thanks.

WhiteWidow · 28/05/2012 22:10

What is your point? Does any of this matter... No!

OP posts:
mathanxiety · 28/05/2012 22:11

'Its a well know saying 'to act like an animal', you're just being pedantic'.

But what was your point in saying it?
'Every cloud has a silver lining' is another well known phrase but you didn't say that...

NurseBernard · 28/05/2012 22:11

Well, why would you even re-tell it on a thread, catgirl? If you don't care, and thought it odd that she cared?

I'm buggered if I'm going to search for the thread, but at the time it read awfully like you were having a bit of a behind-the-hand-snigger at women who don't tend their gardens, and making them realise actual professionals where sniggering at them, too.

Obviously this is purely speculation on my part. Wink But it was an odd thing to add to a thread by someone, such as yourself, who purportedly so vehemently doesn't care what people do with their pubes.

Debeezandbirds · 28/05/2012 22:11

"sort of"

:o

catgirl1976 · 28/05/2012 22:12

Yes, yes. Everythign we do is subject to social conditioning. I think we all know that. It's just not very interesting is it given it applies to everything.

Debeezandbirds · 28/05/2012 22:13

So, back to the OP. "How do you prevent them..[ingrown hairs].

From a few pm's tonight I've gleamed that raw porridge in the bath can help. Thank you to the mnetter who suggested I try this. Anyone else had any success?

Empusa · 28/05/2012 22:14

Raw porridge? Really?! How on earth does that work?

I just exfoliate (gently)

yellowraincoat · 28/05/2012 22:14

catgirl - Maybe you don't find it interesting. If not, perhaps you shouldn't discuss it. Some of us do find it interesting, because it does affect everything we do.

That's why they invented a subject for it.

WhiteWidow · 28/05/2012 22:15

Math anxiety is there something wrong with you? What I said applied to the topic, that's why I was said.

We are socially conditioned to not act like animals.

There, does that make sense to you?

OP posts:
mathanxiety · 28/05/2012 22:15

It is pretty interesting given the vehement denial of any social conditioning whatsoever and the trotting out of individual reasons that has gone on here...

WhiteWidow · 28/05/2012 22:16

Raw porridge! Does this mean I can ear my brekkie in the bath too...

OP posts:
WhiteWidow · 28/05/2012 22:16

Eat even. iPad strikes again

OP posts:
mathanxiety · 28/05/2012 22:16

How come 'not acting like animals' has only included shaving your pubes since the advent of internet porn?

Empusa · 28/05/2012 22:16

"and the trotting out of individual reasons that has gone on here"

God forbid anyone should actually answer the question of why we do it. Hmm

WhosPickleisThatOnion · 28/05/2012 22:17

math Its always darkest before dawn is another saying, but it would have been totally irrelevant to the point she was making.

I don't really see what your point of view is here, you just seem to be throwing random sound bites out.

catgirl1976 · 28/05/2012 22:17

You may find it interesting but ,but do you really go through life going

"Oh - you brush your hair in the morning - that's social conditioning that it"

"You wear clothes? Social conditioning."

"You use a handbag instead of a sack? It's because of social conditioning"

and then think it would be fascinating to have a group discussion about it?

WhiteWidow · 28/05/2012 22:17

It isn't interesting, it's simply boring. It's a bit obvious that somewhere down the line it became the norm. But now I do I because I LIKE IT.

OP posts:
Debeezandbirds · 28/05/2012 22:18

"trotting out of individual reasons that has gone on here..."

Would those be the reasons we were asked to give to defend why we choose to do something to our own bodies in response to a grooming thread?

Empusa I have no idea but I shall be trying it. Sounds a nice natural method, can't do any harm. I exfoliate everywhere, nothing like stepping out of the shower all scrubbed. Love my loofa!

WhiteWidow · 28/05/2012 22:19

Where did I fucking say you were acting like an animal if you don't shave? Where has ANYONE said that. They haven't. I SAID that if it wasn't for social conditioning we'd be acting like animals.

OP posts:
WhosPickleisThatOnion · 28/05/2012 22:19

She did NOT use the phrase acting like animals in reference to pubes. Stop putting words in her mouth to suit your cause.

Its actually quite disempowering.

catgirl1976 · 28/05/2012 22:19

You use a loofah?

Did you know it's because of social conditioning?

WhiteWidow · 28/05/2012 22:19

Catgirl - nail on head. Do you lot do this in every topic?

OP posts:
WhiteWidow · 28/05/2012 22:20

Thanks whospickle!
