Because yet again I have the most horrific shaving rash! He says he doesn't mind but I do... Now I feel silly Blush

While we're here does anyone else suffer from the BURN and HORRID ingrown hairs? How do you prevent them.. I'm sick to death.

I wish I could just go all european and not do hair removal but it makes me itchy thinking about it.

OP posts:
yellowraincoat · 28/05/2012 00:26

Mew - then you should address your posts specifically to her, because those are not necessarily my views.

SchrodingersMew · 28/05/2012 00:27

Worra Exactly. Why can't the people arguing that we are all led by social conditioning accept that some people aren't?

yellowraincoat · 28/05/2012 00:28

Mew, I can't believe you studied psychology yet don't think that you are socially conditioned.

That is bonkers.

WorraLiberty · 28/05/2012 00:29

I have no idea Schrod

I certainly don't disagree that they're right in their view that some people are.

But it's arrogant to suggest they know more than the people who are personally telling them why they choose to remove their own personal hair.

And a little bit silly too.

SchrodingersMew · 28/05/2012 00:29

Yellow Sorry I didn't do that in the first place, I forgot while caught up in my little rage here. :)

Moominsarescary · 28/05/2012 00:30

I have never met a man who gave a shiney shit how much hair is on my fanny.

SchrodingersMew · 28/05/2012 00:30

Worra It just gets to me because the extremists smack of trying to take away rights themselves, completely hypocritical.

If I want to shave/wax every single hair from my body I should be able to without fear of being flamed/lectured for it.

WhosPickleisThatOnion · 28/05/2012 00:30

The joys of mums net. Being told I don't know why I Trim my own vagina.

yellowraincoat · 28/05/2012 00:31

I've met plenty, moomins.

Not your fanny personally.

If it's so silly, worra, why are you even here discussing it, if you're so far above it? Who are you trying to convince?

yellowraincoat · 28/05/2012 00:33

Again, mew, show me the person who's telling you you can't wax your eyebrows off if you choose to?

Odd that you rarely hear women saying that it's just so much more COMFORTABLE without eyebrows. Or that they just happen to PREFER the non-eyebrow look.

SchrodingersMew · 28/05/2012 00:33

Yellow If it's fine for people to come on here and try and convince others they do something because they fall victim of social conditioning then it's fine for someone Worra or anyone else to come on here and argue against it.

Again, free speech another great right.

Krumbum · 28/05/2012 00:33

The reason that makes no sense is because its a view that only a minority of ppl have, most people do not question their motives. There is ads, mags, celebs, and normal ppl advocating lack of pubic hair all the time, there is a handful of radical articles that discuss social conditioning. It is unlikely that social pressure makes me question social pressure, who would that benefit? Certainly not the rich, white, who control it, all media politics etc.

Moominsarescary · 28/05/2012 00:34

Well I haven't, they've all been happy to see it regardless of how much hair is there

SchrodingersMew · 28/05/2012 00:34

Yellow Actually I used to completely shave my eyebrows off every single day because I preferred it.

I'll even prove it if you need me to.

And yes, I did have to convince people why I done it.

yellowraincoat · 28/05/2012 00:35

But she's not arguing against it.

She's making total logical fallacies by arguing against stuff none of us said.

yellowraincoat · 28/05/2012 00:35

OK, mew, that's great. You are one person. Show me a ton of other people and I'll start to believe that people remove their hair for reasons other than social conditioning.

WorraLiberty · 28/05/2012 00:36

If it's so silly, worra, why are you even here discussing it, if you're so far above it? Who are you trying to convince?

I'm here discussing it because like many people on a public chat forum I'll challenge POV's that I consider silly...I'm sure you do the same? Confused

If I was so far above any discussion, I wouldn't take part in it obviously so I don't understand that bit of your post?

I am (sadly) trying to convince total strangers that they are wrong in their arrogant assumptions that I remove my pubic hair for any other reasons than those that I have personally stated.

In all seriousness, who is going to know better about my personal reasons for doing anything with my own body....me whose body it is, or some random people on a chat board who I have never met nor will meet?

That's my point right there in a nutshell.

Moominsarescary · 28/05/2012 00:37

My nana used to shave her eyebrows off

SchrodingersMew · 28/05/2012 00:37

Krumbum

Well I've read loads of articles on social conditioning, unlike you I am just not so gullible to believe that it affects everyones decision to do something.

Is it possible you read 1 too many feminist articles and now believe all women are completely oppressed in everything they do but are now so conditioned you cannot question it?

Krumbum · 28/05/2012 00:38

It's strange how some of you now accept that we are subject to social conditioning but just don't think YOU are, you are the exception. That's amazing!

SchrodingersMew · 28/05/2012 00:40

Yellow There has been a ton of other people on this thread who gave their own reasons you have just chosen to ignore them. Worra was one of them but instead of accept she does things because she wants to you asked her who she was trying to convince?

You are accusing people of not reading what you are posting but are you reading what you are posting?

yellowraincoat · 28/05/2012 00:40

I'm going to bed. You're all quite mad.

If you honestly think for one split second that any decision you make is based on your woo-woo strong woman I am my own person actual personality, you are deluded.

I include myself in that.

WhosPickleisThatOnion · 28/05/2012 00:42

Your right in saying that usually people don't question their motives with regards shaving their pubic hair. But be assured I have looked deep within myself and I feel very confident it's for the reasons I have stated.

SchrodingersMew · 28/05/2012 00:42

Oh FFS Krumbum I don't think I am the exception with anything but just because some people are socially conditioned to do one thing does not mean they are socially conditioned in everything they do.

Also, you are completely ignoring everything I am saying to you and changing it back to me not believing I am socially conditioned. Confused

Krumbum · 28/05/2012 00:43

You Don't know what I've read, I'm not part of a radical feminist movement and most ppl are not feminist (sadly). Waxing is very painful, why is it that women have only wanted to start putting themselves through this pain since pornography became so accessible and prevalent?
