To be annoyed that my mum says "our" baby!?

It really bothers me that she refers to my daughter as "our" baby. I feel like saying, "Actually, mum, she's MY baby!" but I don't want to hurt her feelings, so I've always just ignored it. Now she's text me asking how "our" baby is and I've ranted to my OH once again, who thinks I should tell her to stop saying it.

I don't know if it's something petty that I should carry on ignoring or whether I should speak up about it! Does/would it bother anyone else? X

Its not weird or insensitive, its lovely. My dm still refers to Ds as ''my little Sammy" he is 16 and 6ft. He is hers just ad much as ours as he is part of her family.
Exoticfruit is spot on as usual.

I think YABU and petty yes, sorry. Unless you have wider issues with your mum which could explain your irritation...

My mil used to ring up and ask how 'my baby' was doing. Shock
I used to put dh (her baby) on the phone. She stopped saying it.

Thank you bruffin Blush
If you have a poor relationship then I would have a different reply - you have to treat toxic people differently, but I thought this was just a loving grandmother.

Haven't read the whole thread (on phone with crappy reception!) but my MIL often refers to 'my' which I've always taken as a sign of her love and attachment and found quite sweet.

I'm guessing this is one of those context things and that maybe your DM is being overbearing in other areas?
