(I'm) my DD is watching pats special delivery service, and he seems to continuously loose/misplace all the things he is supposed to deliver. AIBU to think he isnt that good at his job?

That's the Royal Mail for you. Blame the cuts.

Sounds like a pretty average postie to me. At least he doesn't write on people's doors in marker pen. And I'm pretty sure that the only reason he takes his cat to work is so it can poo in someone else's garden.

We got given an old Postman Pat book by our next door neighbours and it is the most BORING book I have ever read. Postman Pat's Washing Day - the clue to the boredom is in the title. It's like reading the local paper to my DSs!!!! and they fucking love it and I've read it 3 times this week Angry There is no nutshell as there is no plot, just a depressing series of boring events. Pat goes to Granny Drydens and she's not done her washing as her washing machine is broken. So Pat gets Mrs Pottage to do granny's washing but Mrs Pottage washes his hat and jacket so he has to do the rest of his rounds in a tweed jacket and deerstalker hat. Oh, the hilarity! I can't continue altho sadly the story does.

Altho I do actually like PP and Special Delivery Service altho my DH says lovingly that I am from Greendale - "Yorkshire village of idiots" Smile slaps husband

cocoachannel · 26/05/2012 22:28

Pro for Pat: doesn't drop red elastic bands all over people's footpaths.

StealthPolarBear · 26/05/2012 22:30

He is useless and they are all so pathetically grateful!

Pmsl at rogered by half the village

StealthPolarBear · 26/05/2012 22:31

Maybe I could open a cafe in Greendale as they obv have low standards for service
Stale scones, waiting half an hour for coffee and cake but I will eventually bring milk to go in your tea, of you remind me

Sneakymeezer · 27/05/2012 07:55

Lol, our boys love it but DH and I joke that his boss has microchipped him to find out where the hell he has gone and factors in a few extra hours for Pat to get there.... let's not even mention how many times he OPENS THE MAIL... isn't that illegal?

puds11 · 27/05/2012 10:44

Yeah stealth i think you can do any old shit in greendale and they will still love you for it Grin

I've watched this twice in the last week or so, I can only assume that the writer is a tad frustrated with his lot and is desperately seeking a break into action movies. That one with the film, they got a post office helicopter out to look for the missing film can. WTAF! And don't get me started on the OTT incidental music as Pat yet again fails spectacularly to succeed in the ever so difficult task of putting a parcel safely in the back of his van Hmm

OP YANBU he is a rubbish postman, I think this SOS job may just be a made up ruse to keep him away from proper post.

Napsalot · 27/05/2012 13:05

DH and I have spent more time than we would admit talking about how terrible Pat became at his job when he moved to SDS. We googled it and I think Royal Mail decided they didn't want him affiliated with them anymore, hence the move to SDS. Admits we should get out more instead of talking about children's tv shows

MarySA · 27/05/2012 13:15

Can't believe how horrible people are being about Postman Pat. I might start a Postman Pat Protection League. But I have to admit I've not seen it for years. .

puds11 · 28/05/2012 11:08

He's not the best postman im afraid Mary. His standards have slipped over the years.

Oi, you lot, leave poor old Pat alone! He could give most modern posties a good lesson in social interaction. So what if he forgets or loses the odd delivery? Once he finds his glasses, he always puts things right.

NoraHelmer · 28/05/2012 12:57

He may not be very good at his job, but at least he's polite and everyone in Greendale likes him :o

HeartsJandJ · 28/05/2012 13:46

He's not even the best postman in Greendale.

PeppermintCreams · 28/05/2012 14:32

I think the residents of Greendale need to order their parcels to arrive the day before they need it not 30 seconds before it's needed!

puds11 · 28/05/2012 16:32

Who's the best postie in greendale?

FireOverBabylon · 28/05/2012 16:41

It's the SDS version which particularly grates with DH and I. All the characters have mobile phones with a direct line to the sorting Office, and a named individual at that!

And the plot twists to get the various vehicles into the story - why in God's name would you launch a helicopter to deliver a pair of ice skates? Just think of the expense! He keeps losing / opening parcel after parcel - if we were in Greendale we've have got UPS in by now to set up a rival buisness......

JeezyPeeps · 28/05/2012 16:46

You can't slag of Postman Pat - he's being made into a movie and is being voiced by Stephen Mangan. In slagging Pat you are also slagging the very gentleman that brought Dirk Gently to life....

jandymaccomesback · 28/05/2012 17:48

Actually Pat is a lot like our RL Postman. He is very friendly but useless and still (after several years) has to knock on the door and say "Did I put the letters for No. 9 through your door?"

WellHello · 28/05/2012 22:40

Can I also ask if I am the only person who fancies the Captain off Nuzzle and Scratch or am I silly.

BigHairyFlowers · 28/05/2012 22:42

I quite fancy the Captain from Space Pirates.

TheOriginalSteamingNit · 28/05/2012 22:45

Ahem. It is 'postman pat was crying/ bits of Jess were flying'.

And yeah, he's rubbish.

TheOriginalSteamingNit · 28/05/2012 22:47

Oh and the last line is 'I've never seen a cat as flat as that'.
