Apologies for reanimating a zombie thread, but I feel this topic deserves further discussion.

Many of the pp from 2012 are probably out of the Postman Pat years now and there must be a whole new batch of parents who share my rage at the uselessness of Pat. Using the helicopter to deliver ice skates, FFS.

We've been watching the original ones on YouTube. Dc don't seem to mind.

My worry is, surely Pat is doomed? How can he survive in this age of austerity?

And what has happened to Peter Fogg? And Miss Hubbard? I assume Granny Dryden is no more, since she was very elderly in the 80s. Same goes for the Reverend Tims

I have a little crush on Peter Foggy. AIBU?

I watched SDS for the first time the other week (with DS, I'm not quite that sad yet) and they got the helicopter out to deliver a parcel then too. Honestly, its no bloody surprise the cost of stamps has gone up if they have to factor Pat's spending into it.

Lol how funny - I have all this to look forward to in years to come with a 2 year old and a 1 year old :)

Thomas is a terrible engine. Most of the bad things that happen in Sodor are because Thomas is being a little shit jealous of someone because they've got a better job or more attention or something. That fight with the diesels ended in carnage.

YANBU I think the same a lot whilst my 3 and 4 year old watch it agog. I think they'd be no story line or excitement if he just delivered the mail though.

I prefer the old ones, boring I suppose but thinking back to the chap who wrote them John Cunliffe, he also did the series called Rosie and Jim and went about writing a story on the old ragdoll canal boat whilst his rag dolls came to life behind his back. My kids watch an old video of it and love it! So dull is good it seems Wink

You do know that royal mail didn't want to be associated with Postman Pat - hence why its all special delivery service ....

I can understand the reluctance to talk about Dorothy if she left Alf in dodgy circumstances (perhaps that's where George went) but Miss Hubbard too? Where did they all go?

Planning permission clearly isn't needed in Sunflower Valley. Bob was designing his dream house this week as he went along!

Don't ask that question in green dale as the locals will attempt to silence you

People do leave Greendale - where is Granny Dryden now? Dorothy Thompson?

Sneaky and there was an episode where he got his van stuck in the mud because instead of driving on the road like all the other vehicles he decided to go through one of the fields. Clever.

One day they'll burn some unsuspecting interloper in Greendale. Just like WhickerMan.

It seems to go on forever because there is no plot. Plus no one is allowed to leave Greendale the village of the damned. I remember an episode (not SDS) where the policeman applied for a job somewhere else becaue there wasn't much crime and so nothing for him to do. The locals then all invented things he needed to 'help' them with and the kids made up a song and and he was persuaded to stay, in his boring unfulfilling job, after all. I felt quite bad about it.

Obv he bribed his boss with sexual favors for that gold star....it's the only explanation. Also I am not sure he is actually licensed for all those vehicles.....he certainly doesn't drive them very well, says she, thinking of the episode with pat, water tower, helicopter and the greendale express

I have realised recently that he is hopelessly inept. And yet somehow last week he got a gold star top performer award because he's always on time. Hmm

Oh rosie I was just about to say that! Doo doo doo doo......TED GLEN!
He is the best.

I find some of the characters a little unlikeable tbh.
Particularly that doctor. Why doesn't she just get a car that works? Or join the RAC instead of just standing helplessly at the side of the road, waiting to distract Pat from doing what he is supposed to be doing.

I do think putting the postie through a car, motorbike, HGV and helicopter licence just to deliver to 1 Yorkshire village is a little excessive.

[yes PP is a hot topic in our household too]

I like the fact that in the SDS episodes, Ted Glen has his own theme tune. He is the real star. Apart from jess, obviously, who spends each episode thinking 'why do I have to put up with this twat?'

Maybe its a cult. Have you seen the episode where he wears robes and talks to them all about how he's the true son of god?

Yeah it went a little something like that! He is soooo crap, and all they do is harp on about how good he is! Angry

And let me guess, Alf had a go at mending it Amd made a pigs ear of it, then pat swooped it, messily super glued it and was hailed as a hero who saved the day?
I've just realised he Amd Cheryl Cole have a lot in common

Bob is not just a good builder - he's invented instant-drying cement too! How else do you start work on a building in the morning and move in by teatime?!?! The only thing that took longer than a day was a bridge!!! Grin
