for wanting people to follow the rules

i am really annoyed with this. i moved from my last home for my neighbours parking their vehicles in our spaces and it got really nasty. we have since moved to a new development where there are set rules about what you can and cant do re: parking and vehicke types its ones of the reasons i bought the house. My new neighbours are basically flouting them even though they have been warned by the developer.

aibu to expect for people follow the rules that are set, and not take the piss.

its been handed to the solicitors now i hope this can be resolved ir ill be moving again.

My neighbour is a farmer. I get to see a muck spreader out of my living room window. C'est la vie!

Thumbwitch · 21/05/2012 16:11

Hmm, may withdraw my "YANBU" with the new information. Unless these vans are taking up more than their share of space, or blocking or otherwise impeding your movements, you are being petty and unreasonable.

Vans and a sky dish? Dear heaven, the world's coming to an end! Hmm

If it were a burnt out wreck in your car lot, I could understand the whole eyesore aspect a lot better.

I wonder if there's more to come...

thisisyesterday · 21/05/2012 16:11

i do think you should havge maybe thought a bit more carefully before choosinhg your current house.

maybe next time choose one that isn't near anybody else yeah?

have you measured their vw transporter? i am thinkikng of getting one of these as i have a few kids and i might have a few more. i hope my neighbours aren't like you!

Pandemoniaa · 21/05/2012 16:11

Me too, TheUnMember and what is worse, the hideous thing is muddy. And smells of muck. Remind me to write to my solicitor immediately. Only I can see no evidence, anywhere in my deeds, that this sort of awful farming machinery is allowed to share the same air as me.

ScarlettAlexandra · 21/05/2012 16:11

well as far as i can see (from whatboth solicitors have said) if its not moved they will lose their tenancy, its not one rule for them and the different for everyone else.

YABU

You sound very crazy tbh, if you are that bothered just because you don't like the look of their vehicle.

Rules don't have to be followed, actually. You sound like a very difficult neighbor who doesn't have any real problems so likes to create them.

BadNails · 21/05/2012 16:13

At my last place, I had the view of a burnt out garage as my neighbours were the victims of an arson. I also had a lovely view of their car which they wouldn't/couldn't move as the tyres had been slashed by the children who lived above them. It was lush Grin

ScarlettAlexandra · 21/05/2012 16:15

its a brand new home the rules are therewhen you buy just follow them.

i was the first to move in here belive me if i knew that they where moving next to us i would not have moved here.

I remember you ScarlettAlexandra from another thread. Aren't you the poster who emailed the supermarket to complain about elderly people using the p&c spaces? And didn't you go on to tell me that I should feel guilty about parking there with my blue badge?

Methinks you have control issues and need to leave others to get on with their lives.

I think you should get a hobby and spend less time looking out the window. It's a van. People drive vans. It is not actually an inconvenience to you, you're just being pedantic.

People parking inconsiderately is a pain. People driving vans is not.

Hmm

YANBU. If the rules say that vans shouldn't be parked in the car park then they shouldn't be there surely? Confused

WorraLiberty · 21/05/2012 16:17

A van?

A Sky dish?

Affordable housing?

Worra fucking liberty!!! Angry

You poor thing....

ScarlettAlexandra · 21/05/2012 16:18

What because your neighbours have a big van and a sattelite dish?

Sorry but you sound like a loon! You would hate to live opposite me....my DH has a 4 x 4 pick up truck (he needs it, he's a builder) we have a massive fuck off digital tv aerial on our roof as well as a sattelite dish.

Funny enough, our neighbours love us!

KatieScarlett2833 · 21/05/2012 16:18

My neighbour has an expressly forbidden caravan on his drive.

Does anyone in my stepford-wives street care?

No.

AmazingBouncingFerret · 21/05/2012 16:19

They have pointed a sky dish at you??

Fucking kill em I say.

The bastards.

PukeCatcher · 21/05/2012 16:20

Blinds, you need blinds - swivel them so you can't see the offending vehicles, and resist temptation to peek and see if they are still there, you'll drive yourself bonkers if you keep looking.
These rules in leases are rarely followed in my experience. Where I used to live you couldn't change your front garden for 5 years - until the rest of the estate was finished , you couldn't have logos on your cars or work vans, no caravans parked even on your own property, no doing repairs to your vehicle even on your own drive, if a plant died you had to replace it like for like, yadda yadda yadda, all a tad unreasonable when people were paying hundreds of thousands of pounds for their houses I think, and it certainly didn't stop anybody parking their work vans.

Sparklingbrook · 21/05/2012 16:20

But I assume that you don't have a rule saying bans and satellite dishes aren't allowed Betty? We lived somewhere once where the rules were that you couldn't paint your front door a different colour, so nobody did even though it seemed a bit strange. when we moved in we agreed to the rules.

ScarlettAlexandra · 21/05/2012 16:20

i researched this loads before i moved, i thought with the legal coverage no one would ignore them.

how is this wrong.

My husband is an uber-nerd. We have satellite dishes, aerials, cables, whizzy thingamejigs enough to make NASA jealous. Come and live next to us :o

MarySA · 21/05/2012 16:22

I agree Sparklingbrook. Rules is Rules.
