for wanting people to follow the rules

i am really annoyed with this. i moved from my last home for my neighbours parking their vehicles in our spaces and it got really nasty. we have since moved to a new development where there are set rules about what you can and cant do re: parking and vehicke types its ones of the reasons i bought the house. My new neighbours are basically flouting them even though they have been warned by the developer.

aibu to expect for people follow the rules that are set, and not take the piss.

its been handed to the solicitors now i hope this can be resolved ir ill be moving again.

Chill out op!
Seemingly the road will imminently become adopted and then you won't mind the vans anymore as they will no longer be breaking any rules. In the meantime just try to pretend to yourself that the road has already been adopted and you will feel fine about it all and can relax and enjoy your van watching

@SarahStratton

Now that's a sentence I never dreamed I'd write.

My working life is full of this sort of thing.

Midge25 · 21/05/2012 22:21

Sheeesh .... issues much? OP, something is sorely missing in your life if a neighbour's van is this much of a problem.

SarahStratton · 21/05/2012 22:22

I envy you Olivia Envy

WenTheEternallySurprised · 21/05/2012 22:25

To go back to this move Scarlett. Not the one you just made to get away from neighbours parking in your space but the forthcoming on to "KL". Am I right that KL means Kuala Lumpur?

As in Kuala Lumpur, the most populous city in Malaysia?

I bloody hope KL stands for Kuala Lumpar.
Round here it stands for Kings Langley which is virtually next door to me. I'm going to have to move, aren't I?

Whatname, I suppose I just don't understand why anyone would be upset by a campervan on your drive. If it was a chip van, or an icecream van, with smells and chimes and a queue of people constantly, well yes....but a campervan parked on a drive.....????

Whatnamethistime · 21/05/2012 22:45

Its big, it blocks light, its a small cul de sac.

Mind you I am constantly annoyed by other peoples kids playing on my drive so I guess I am more considerate than my neighbours.

I dont know we just thought it would be un neighbourly so we pay to store it a few miles down the road.

McHappyPants2012 · 21/05/2012 22:51

Op do you know what I envy you, I struggle with bills And rent every month in my home I have been here 3 years and still not put down a carpet or decorated.

How I would love to sit in my window worrying over where a van parked instead of have I got enough money to survive the month must be a whole load better.

I'm going to buck the trend a bit here and say that I don't think Scarlet is being a snob, but only because I recognise her from another thread.

I think everytime she looks out of her window she sees someone who is openly flouting the rules and getting away with it and it is that which is upsetting her.

It's no good telling her that it's a minor rule and that her neighbours certainly did not set out to upset anyone because I would guess that it has already become representative of all the other unfairness in her life.

Scarlet - if you are still reading please reconsider upsetting your poor neighbours like this over such a trivial infringement of the rules. Why do you think other people not following rules makes you feel so angry? I don't know a great deal about psychology, but I think it's generally accepted that anger is a form of fear

It is bloody tiring looking after 2 young children. I should know, I do it (and whilst DH works away during the week too). Sleep deprivation sets in and things get blown out of all proportion. PM me if you want to chat.

ShellyBoobs · 21/05/2012 22:59

fuckarama

Do you think that any restrictive covenant should be summarily ignored?

Is it just because it would piss OP off?

I'm genuinely interested.

I just can't envisage the point at which someone going through a property purchase would be told about the covenants and it would be reasonable to just think "fuck it, I don't care about that. Fuck the neighbours too."

Just all seems a little odd to me.

Having said that OP does seem to have some control issues. Grin

SarahStratton · 21/05/2012 23:00

Decisions, decisions.

Do I stay here, or go play with the offal munching serial killer thread? Hmm

LadyBeagleEyes · 21/05/2012 23:03

Offal munching serial killer thread?
Where's that then?
I'm getting bored of this one now Grin

SarahStratton · 21/05/2012 23:12

Tis in Ayboo, 'Will he hurt me?'.

TuftyFinch · 21/05/2012 23:18

There's a covenant on my house. I'm not allowed to turn it into a pub. No one in our village is allowed Sky. Ever. That's the rule. Or keep more than 5 geese on open pasture.

Pandemoniaa · 21/05/2012 23:20

I'm wondering if the serial killing thread is connected. He's had to have got that hammer from somewhere hasn't he? Perhaps that's why the door to the offending van was open.

TheUnMember · 21/05/2012 23:21

My deeds say I only own my land to a depth of 1m, which is a bit worrying as we have quite a large basement.

LadyBeagle I am actually looking into getting pygmy goats. I really am! We've been given a field behind our garden where once there were sheep but the sheep went to their maker. I think it's big enough for goats and chickens. Do you really have goats or are you kidding me?

wannabeamillionaire · 21/05/2012 23:32
