for wanting people to follow the rules

i am really annoyed with this. i moved from my last home for my neighbours parking their vehicles in our spaces and it got really nasty. we have since moved to a new development where there are set rules about what you can and cant do re: parking and vehicke types its ones of the reasons i bought the house. My new neighbours are basically flouting them even though they have been warned by the developer.

aibu to expect for people follow the rules that are set, and not take the piss.

its been handed to the solicitors now i hope this can be resolved ir ill be moving again.

Friend ends in END

It's F-R-I-E-N-D

Why? You don't need a solicitor.

Because it's fuck all squared to do with you.

Jesus Fucking H Roosevelt Christ.

A camper van, how very dare they!

ScarlettAlexandra · 21/05/2012 22:01

I'm a woman of principle. i would be hammered if i broke the rules. why should they get away with it.

fuckarama · 21/05/2012 22:02

Well, it doesn't seem to me like your principles are making you very happy.

You'll end up bitter and lonely if you don't watch out.

WenTheEternallySurprised · 21/05/2012 22:02

"But the developer is going to have to tell the neighbour who complained if it goes any further."

But it won't even come to that, will it? The neighbours will just take 2 seconds to think about who's been watching their every move and work it out for themselves. Scarlett I hope for your sake that they aren't the council estate type of people who will get arsey as a result.

PickledFanjoCat · 21/05/2012 22:03

"A Woman of Principle"

I cant take any more. I cant!

There is no hope for you.

Just blow the van up then.

LoopyLoopsTootTootToots · 21/05/2012 22:03

"i would be hammered if i broke the rules" - what do you mean?

ScarlettAlexandra · 21/05/2012 22:03

they do now I'm sure and no change.

OP posts:
fuckarama · 21/05/2012 22:04

If you're moving in less than 2 years, how fast do you think the court system works?

You'll be leaving, the van will still be there, someone else will move in, the bloke will get chucked out, and you won't even be there to see it.

And all the neighbours will hate you for ever because they can't get their road repaired or the bins lifted.

Pyrrhic victory, that's what you call that.

ScarlettAlexandra · 21/05/2012 22:05

i would be fined in accordance with my deeds. that's why the camper moved.

sixlostmonkeys · 21/05/2012 22:06

Scarlett - twice you have told us how in trouble YOU would be if YOU broke the rules. Is there something going on in your life where you get punished?

OliviaLMumsnet · 21/05/2012 22:06

Hello hello good eventide to you all

And a lovely gentle reminder that while this is AIBU whereby people are encouraged to take sides, obviously we also like folk to agree to disagree.
Thanks very much

Olivia, OLIVIA, what about the rules?

They're breaking them, you know, and not just about disagreeing!

AIBU for wanting people to follow the rules?

ScarlettAlexandra · 21/05/2012 22:11

There are one has only just moved in. so would have a valid excuse to be there.

SarahStratton · 21/05/2012 22:13

Now that's a sentence I never dreamed I'd write.

TheUnMember · 21/05/2012 22:14

There's a parking area in front of my mum's house which has similar parking restrictions. No vans allowed. Her neighbour parks his massive van right outside her living room window. She doesn't complain about it though. Why not? Because she understands that his entire livelihood is dependent on the contents of that van, so he wants it where he can see it.

WenTheEternallySurprised · 21/05/2012 22:15

"about as likely to succeed as a limp dick making a serious dent in a bowl of warm custard?"

PMSL. That's made my day! I'm going to take note of that one and use it often.

Whatnamethistime · 21/05/2012 22:16

In all fairness to OP, our camper lives elsewhere, we have plenty of space on drive, I dont think its fair on the neighbours to have to look at it all the time.

LentillyFart · 21/05/2012 22:17

Help yourself wen - I find it helps in all manner of difficult situations Grin
