for wanting people to follow the rules

i am really annoyed with this. i moved from my last home for my neighbours parking their vehicles in our spaces and it got really nasty. we have since moved to a new development where there are set rules about what you can and cant do re: parking and vehicke types its ones of the reasons i bought the house. My new neighbours are basically flouting them even though they have been warned by the developer.

aibu to expect for people follow the rules that are set, and not take the piss.

its been handed to the solicitors now i hope this can be resolved ir ill be moving again.

It's where you sing duets while admiring men's tools.

McHappyPants2012 · 21/05/2012 20:59

A caravan is not used day in day out

BawdyStrumpet · 21/05/2012 20:59

I think OP would have had a much kinder response about the "rules" if she hadn't made all the snobby and judgemental comments.

MixedClassBaby · 21/05/2012 21:00

OP, has it crossed your mind that they park it there to annoy you and have a sweepstake running on how long before the vein on your forehead pops?

Pandemoniaa · 21/05/2012 21:01

Sorry, I should have been clearer, a look-up is where you sing duets and keep a close eye on men's tools. In answer to fuckarama.

My neighbours built an enormous extension a metre away from my kitchen window blocking all natural light, and presenting me with a view of their back door and, occasionally, Mr Neighbour standing at back door in his keks having a fag.

It REALLY ANNOYED me for about a week and then I got over and it because actually, there's more to life than stressing about stupid things like views from your kitchen or sitting room window. Rather than staring out the kitchen one and fuming I can just go and look out of all my other windows at lovely views (like my DHs van Grin).

My baby is healthy. My husband is lovely. I have good friends and good family. My health is shit, but I'm living in hope of a cure for that. My point, OP, is that there is no point eating yourself up over something so utterly, pointlessly trivial as this. Look at all the lovely things in your life and focus on them - be thankful you've got your own house to bitch about.

Move on

Fireandashes · 21/05/2012 21:01

But why exactly does it matter, OP? Why should the view from your window only comprising cars not vans over-ride someone's attempt to make a living?

SauvignonBlanche · 21/05/2012 21:01

Grin @ fuckerama

ScarlettAlexandra · 21/05/2012 21:01

lock up i meant.

Not having a wooden floor in your flat is quite common, and due to noise pollution which is a lot more stressful than just looking at half a view for a van.

I see your point thought.

HOWEVER the OP has several issues with car parking, and general rules around parking. So I just think that buying a house opposite a car park is a bit of a bad idea.

If you cant stand the sound of people walking, it makes sense to buy a top floor flat you see?

I'm just thinking of her blood pressure.

fuckarama this seems a little unusual to me, not being allowed to park a van (although im sure you have checked op) is it?

I feel a little sorry for this man if he hasn't realised this before he moved in, and now is living next door to a massive parking pedant.

fuckarama · 21/05/2012 21:02

If I was them and had to move the van (just in the off-chance that they might recognise themselves and be reading this) and I really really wanted to get right on your tits I'd get the most manky dilapidated but totally legal old banger in the style of Onslow BIL of Mrs Bucket and I'd park it right slap bang where you had to see it day in day out.

OP - 7 pages ago you asked if you were being unreasonable.

The simple answer is Yes, you are.

fuckarama · 21/05/2012 21:04

It could be on the deeds, Pickled, it's not my area of expertise, but yes, there could be a restrictive covenant of that type on the deeds.

If it's a caveat on the mortgage (which I have never heard of being used in this situation but strange as it may seem I don't know everything), as the OP has insisted, then she's right royally fucked since the houses opposite are housing association.

ScarlettAlexandra · 21/05/2012 21:05

i didn't make the rules, But i expect people to follow them. they knew that when they moved in, as i said totally disregard for others.

Pull up to my bumper baby?

fuckarama · 21/05/2012 21:05

Am I the only person who would love to see a copy of the deeds and go through them with a fine tooth comb and find all the ways in which the OP is contravening them?

ScarlettAlexandra · 21/05/2012 21:06

why? enlighten me?

fuckarama · 21/05/2012 21:06

Just because that's the sort of twisted person I am.

Your "But" had a capital letter, so your shift key isn't broken, hurray!

Sarcalogos · 21/05/2012 21:07

Oh good so you are doing it all the cowardly way too? Why what a pillar of the community you are. Hmm

PickledFanjoCat · 21/05/2012 21:08

I wouldn't have thought it would be on the mortgage either.

I've never heard of this, but I've never bought a new build.

Maybe Scarlett. But on here, about 10/15% of people agree with you (a bit)

And 90/85% of people think you should not let such trivia wind you up.

So just maybe, he cant understand why anyone would mind? Parking a VW in a car park? I mean its not like shooting a puppy is it.
