for wanting people to follow the rules

i am really annoyed with this. i moved from my last home for my neighbours parking their vehicles in our spaces and it got really nasty. we have since moved to a new development where there are set rules about what you can and cant do re: parking and vehicke types its ones of the reasons i bought the house. My new neighbours are basically flouting them even though they have been warned by the developer.

aibu to expect for people follow the rules that are set, and not take the piss.

its been handed to the solicitors now i hope this can be resolved ir ill be moving again.

*Fit, even. Can't type this evening!

RandomNumbers · 21/05/2012 20:44

lolo at actually complaining about cows lowing

NB I am a cuntry-dweller mysel

BadNails · 21/05/2012 20:45

I'm not they will just have to park the van else where, i don't want them to move just the van

So... I assume that someone has asked them to just move the van?

fuckarama · 21/05/2012 20:45

The farmer over the back from me spreads slurry every time the weather is nice and it smells bad.

AIBU to think he should cease and desist and check with me before he does it so I have a chance to get my washing in?

Fireandashes · 21/05/2012 20:45

The bit I'm struggling with is what actual, tangible, material difference does it make to your life, OP? What's the huge, life-ruining difference between a view overlooking a car park full of cars, or a view overlooking a car park full of cars and vans?

I'm not being bitchy here, I genuinely can't see what's so fundamentally horrible about a couple of vans that aren't blocking your driveway or taking up your parking space. I get that it's "against the rules" but it's such a minor infringement that it doesn't have to have any effect or impact on you - unless you let it, for no apparent reason.

Why run the risk of making yourself ill, either with stress or an ulcer? Don't sweat the small stuff, live and let live and other such soothing platitudes.

BawdyStrumpet · 21/05/2012 20:45

This thread is classic - spelling mistakes and all! Do you have a Parisian cousin, Scarlett?

sixlostmonkeys · 21/05/2012 20:46

he had all the doors open on it all day yesterday

So you watched the van ALL DAY?? on A Sunday? Which is family time with your DH?

WenTheEternallySurprised · 21/05/2012 20:46

Hey, here's a question for you Scarlett. Which would you prefer? To cause the van owner to lose his home or his job? Because it would seem that you won't be happy until you've achieved at least one or the other.

If you lose him his job you'll end up living near to an unemployed person. Just like on all those ugly, messy council estates. You might want to consider that one before you carry on complaining about the poor bugger's van.

ScarlettAlexandra · 21/05/2012 20:46

i have already checked with the developer and solicitor about the rules and they are the same across the board. rented or not.

fuckarama · 21/05/2012 20:47

I want to know who clyped on me and got me deleted.

Seriously, Scarlett, some workie who's only trying, genuinely, to do a job is going to end up either not able to do his job because he can't park his van, or out of his home.

Can't you get a wee bit of perspective and maybe let it go?

SauvignonBlanche · 21/05/2012 20:47

The majority agree that YABU.

Bibulus · 21/05/2012 20:47

Go on OP, answer Fireandashes' question because I would love to know the answer!

BadNails · 21/05/2012 20:48

I think I love the word "lowing".

Lowing

Lowing

Lowing

It's so evocative, isn't it?

sixlostmonkeys · 21/05/2012 20:48

why were you watching the van ALL DAY on Sunday?

BawdyStrumpet · 21/05/2012 20:48

The Americans across the road from me often entertain, and the street ends up looking like a monster truck rally. As long as I can get my car off the drive, I chuckle about why they need such mahoosive vehicles outside of say, Texas, but I would never dream of stressing or complaining about it....

SauvignonBlanche · 21/05/2012 20:49

Don't go fuckerama, stay!

McHappyPants2012 · 21/05/2012 20:49

Still not answered my question

fuckarama · 21/05/2012 20:50

Didn't you go for a pee on Sunday?

Did your DP bring you a sandwich to the front window so you could twitch your curtains without interruption?

Maybe you have a commode?

sixlostmonkeys · 21/05/2012 20:50

nor mine

but her solicitor agrees with her :)

VivaLeBeaver · 21/05/2012 20:50

I used to have a vw transporter as a family vehicle, converted into a camper van and I even had the roof highered. Thankfully the only covenant on my deeds says that I can't run a pub from the premises.

OP, you don't live in a nice house. You live in a new build overlooking a carpark and terraced housing. It is a total oxymoron to say it's a nice house.

Perhaps you should have got a bigger mortgage and bought a more secluded house?

BadNails · 21/05/2012 20:50

Fuckerama don't let it get to you.

ScarlettAlexandra · 21/05/2012 20:50

yes developer asked first no response, housing association asked and they said its only for a week as we are moving in its been months now. she apparently said she had no idea about the rules, and the housing association contradicted what she said.

its in the solicitors hands now. you can put your van elsewhere.

OP posts:
fuckarama · 21/05/2012 20:51

I bet the developer just loves you and I bet the solicitor loves you even more and is rubbing his hands every time you contact him coz that's another £100 for him

VivaLeBeaver · 21/05/2012 20:52

Maybe your neighbours should get rid of the van and instead get some old bangers on bricks to do up? I'm sure there's nothing in the deeds about that.
