Warning... It's dog related.. Owners should keep better control over their dog/s

Lovely sunny day so dh, me and 3 dc went to highcliffe beach. It's a really nice beach and families go there as well as many dog walkers. This is fine of course.

However, we had our towels and windbreak up, baby's pram and buckets and spade and picnic. Normal stuff.

So we are there, I'm looking after baby and boys playing with dh in sand/stones.

Dog comes up and pisses over bucket. Owner is horrified and washes bucket in sea. Ok, owner dealt with it.

Bit later a couple of women with 3 dogs, one a standard poodle. The standard poodle comes and pisses over windbreak (picnic bag the other side) owners dreadfully sorry but ffs couldn't they keep dogs closer to them.

And later still family with 2 smaller dogs. Dogs come bounding through our picnic and then one goes to piss on pram. Dh shouted at dog and owners said said "oh they just love kids"... "I said if you can't keep your dogs to yourselves you should keep them on leads"

I have to say there were lots of people with dogs there and most of them just went past and no issues. Oh and the poodle owner quipped "that's dogs for you".... [hmmm]

Sorry I know this seems anti dogs. It's not, it's the feckless owners (minority) who think everyone should love their dogs and not mind them pissing on their belongings.

Dogs should be kept on leads from April till September on the beach IMO ( am a dog owner)

I had a lab pissing all over my new £300 handbag and they giggled it off, on that beach it was mandatory to have dogs on lead so reported it and they were reprimanded

Superstickybeak · 14/05/2012 14:15

I'm with you. Bloody hate the stinky things and make a point of avoiding beaches that allow them.

And yes, dog owner, I know he won't bite them because I'd fecking stab it to death first but I don't want it's stinkig arse rimming tongue on their faces, got it?

Teaandcakeplease · 14/05/2012 14:16

Was this yesterday?

I know I shouldn't be laughing, but I do find it rather unlucky that you had three dogs all try and wee on your things in one day. Bit gross though.

squoosh · 14/05/2012 14:16

Maybe there should be a separate section on MN for all the dog threads?

FannyFifer · 14/05/2012 14:19

Arf at "stinking arse rimming tongue". Grin

ChickensHaveNoLips · 14/05/2012 14:19

Well, of course YANBU. But some people are arseholes

MamaMaiasaura · 14/05/2012 14:23

Yes, it was on Sunday. I know it's another dog thread Blush

But really 3 different fecking dogs. I don't hate dogs, really I don't. But I really hate the owners who are so totally twatish.

Doesn't help ds2 scared of them.

Agh, now the dogs did nothing wrong, from a canine point of view. But my dogs would have been on the lead because I get embarrassed if they piss on someone's belongings. Oh, and it's not "that's just dogs" it's " that's just people who don't a shit about anyone except themselves"

I want to ban people at times, I really really do

FunnysInLaJardin · 14/05/2012 14:24

YANBU. Last week a HUGE Alsatian type dog who was not on a lead at the local playing fields came tearing up to DS2 who is 2 and snarled and barked at him. The dog was much bigger than DS2 and although DS2 wasn't scared I was! This type of thing has happened with both DC and I really do think that dogs should be kept on a lead when out and about. Then at least we could give them a wide berth.

Sparklingbrook · 14/05/2012 14:26

I don't care if this is another dog thread. If owners kept their dogs on leads/controlled them there wouldn't have to be any dog threads would there? It keeps happening.

I don't hate dogs, but I don't want them in my personal space uninvited and especially not weeing in it.

MamaMaiasaura · 14/05/2012 14:27

adora yup, dogs weren't at fault. The owners were. I really hope they are on here to read this

Superstickybeak · 14/05/2012 14:27

A few weeks ago me and DS who is 4 were chased up our track by the people who live behind us's Rottweiler. It was snarling, barking and chasing us and was on it's hind legs at the door after we had run in.

I have genuinely never, ever been so afraid in my life. I wrote a very polite note to the owner who hasn't even had teh fecking courtesy to reply and apologise. No doubt because I dared criticise her fecking pet.
Next time I will phone the police or shoot it. Probably the latter.

Sparklingbrook · 14/05/2012 14:27

If anyone has ever watched 'It's Me or the Dog' it's the owners, not the dogs that need training.

Superstickybeak · 14/05/2012 14:31

It is indeed, but the rest of us still have to wipe their shit from our children's shoes and their arsey drool from our children's faces.

Newsflash all dog owners, I don't like your dog, I don't like any dogs and I don't want it anywhere near me or my kids. Why is that simple statement of fact so damn hard for so many dog owners to grasp?

Sparklingbrook · 14/05/2012 14:33

because all dog owners say their dogs are 'only being friendly' Super as they try to hump your child's leg. Angry

TheUnMember · 14/05/2012 14:33

Probably for the same reason that parents find it difficult to grasp that I don't like their kids, I don't like any kids and don't want them anywhere near me or my dogs.

Superstickybeak · 14/05/2012 14:37

Oddly enough I would never and have never allowed my children to lick or jump up or hump a stranger. Nor do I know anyone else that allows it. Hmm

Besides, you know, if my kids jumped up at you it would be unpleasant but hey, you wouldn't get your face ripped off by them.

We were having breakfast at a cafe in the park the other day and someone's dog just game and sat next to my chair begging for food. The owner was about 100 yards away and my DD(2) was actually quite scared of it.

Friendly little thing, no biggie but the owners shouldn't have been letting him wander around bothering people in a cafe. What bothers me is that dog owners act like you're the one being unreasonable if you get uppity about it.

PandaWatch · 14/05/2012 14:45

I've come across far more anti-social parents than dog owners.

Superstickybeak · 14/05/2012 14:46

God yeah on the pissing and shititng everywhere, gross! Another thing my kids don't do. And even if they did shit in the street, it's not going to blind you unmember. Unlike your dog's shit.
