treat these as tights not trousers.

Look at your bum in the mirror to see if the leggings go see through and your cellulite/pants are visable.

Thank you.

agree!

NotGeoffVader · 12/05/2012 14:37

I only ever wear leggings with a dress that would otherwise be too short to be decent OR under trousers when it's really cold. Quite agree that they should not be worn as trousers - far too much cameltoe opportunity!

catgirl1976 · 12/05/2012 14:38

YANBU

I do wear leggings. But with a long top that fully covers my arse and top thigh.

As should everyone else

kilmuir · 12/05/2012 14:38

Not the back view that worries me! Full frontal can be scarey

ln1981 · 12/05/2012 14:41

YA so NBU!! I have just past a young lady wearing those ones that look like really thick tights, and it was just not nice!!

NoGoodAtHousework · 12/05/2012 14:52

YADNBU it needs banning as a 'fashion'!!! It doesn't look good on anyone!!

NowThenWreck · 12/05/2012 14:53

I just wish gels would consider the aspect of their arse before going out in just leggings and a short top. My town has a lot of students, and they all wear this combo.
Just because you are young does not mean you necessarily have a great arse...

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 12/05/2012 14:58

And even if you do have an acceptable (or even better) arse, does not mean we all want to see it whilst we are walking down the High Street.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 12/05/2012 14:59

My children are too old for this now, but I think those of you with toddlers should be training them to point and say, at the tops of their voices, "Mummy - I can see that lady's bum and her knickers!!"

That would quickly solve this problem, I feel. Grin

HandMadeTail · 12/05/2012 15:13

I recently followed someone up the road, who had leggings on under a tight-ish top. She was a little large (not bitching, I'm no Kate Moss, either) and with every step you could see her whole buttock - from top to bottom - move. She kept having to hoick the top down over her behind.

It looked terrible, but if she had had on a slightly looser top, just as short, she would have looked fine.

BanoffeeSplitz · 12/05/2012 15:47

YANBU at all.

Re-branding anything less sturdy than a pair of jodhpurs, as "footless tights" would help, IMHO. Probably wouldn't stop the worst offenders though.

Smellslikecatspee · 12/05/2012 15:50

What has happened to leggings this time around?

When I wore them as a teen, I hasten to add they were thick thick no way see through, now they all seem to be just a bit above 70 denier tights?

lolajane2009 · 12/05/2012 15:50

I wear mine under dresses or alone around the house if there will be no visitors

sleepchildsleep · 12/05/2012 15:50

YES!!!!! I am always tempted to tell people who wear see through leggings with short tops that I can see every crease of their butt. Wink

Collaborate · 12/05/2012 15:52

What about those who look as if they are wearing nappies under their leggings? Sometimes they just look baggy and lumpy "down there". What's that all about?

StetsonsAreCool · 12/05/2012 15:53

YAdefNBU.

Leggings are for under dresses that are too short to be decent with tights only.

SDTG - ahahahahahaaaaaa Grin Now, how do I go about making that DD's first sentence?

babloogirl · 12/05/2012 15:58

Omg yanbu yesterday saw a woman my age (27 or so)

wearing some leopard ones with a short top, and as if that wasnt enough she must have been wearing a thong (or nothing Grin) as you could clearly see her bum cheeks (and the actual separation)

Llanbobl · 12/05/2012 16:01

Can you add (cheap) white linen trousers as well. Have just seen more of a middle aged stranger than I would have preferred - full frontal as she walked toward me Blush not a good look

theincredibequeenofwands · 12/05/2012 16:04

Ah, but tights are acceptable as trousers too.

I saw a 'larger' lady the other day wearing ten denierish tights with a sweater that only just covered her arse.

Was hard not to stare.

Tangointhenight · 12/05/2012 16:04

Have you seen the stripey ones, black and white?? Like everton mints?? stuff of nightmares!

flapperghasted · 12/05/2012 16:05

YANBU. And I would have been calling for a ban too, BUT, I have found that the only thing I can wear with my hunter wellies when I walk the dog is leggings. Even trousers are too thick. And my legs are too chubby for skinny jeans (thigh area more than anywhere else) so I really don't have much option. And I do always wear a long top and long coat over them, but I always pray I don't see anyone I know Blush They wash so much more easily than anything else I own too, so they hit a double whammy in terms of practicality.

picnicbasketcase · 12/05/2012 16:13

YANBU. Agreed on leggings and on white trousers that you can see pants through. And they think they are being subtle by wearing a cerise thong under them to avoid VPL. Dear God.

DartsAgain · 12/05/2012 19:57

I saw two young ladies walking about yesterday and I could quite clearly see the pink & red knickers underneath. Just wish I'd had a bit more gumption to say something Grin
