treat these as tights not trousers.

Look at your bum in the mirror to see if the leggings go see through and your cellulite/pants are visable.

Thank you.

I think they look horrendous on anyone over about 12 (or who looks like their 12) Mutton dressed as lamb comes to mind Grin

notaniphoneownerjustabadtypist · 12/05/2012 20:06

YY couldn't agtee more. LeggingsAreTightsNotTrousers would make a great MN name!

CaptainHetty · 12/05/2012 20:09

YANBU.

It looks awful. Really, really awful.

MrsNouveauRichards · 12/05/2012 20:12

Leggings only work as trousers on children.

I wear my leggings as tights or around the house instead of joggers/oh bottoms.

I saw a mum at playgroup who wore them as I would trousers, but the top was just long and loose enough that it looked really good, but if they were cheapo leggings or the top any shorter it would have looked indecent.

SecretNutellaFix · 12/05/2012 20:12

nope- YANBU at all.

I have seen so many horrors I am becoming immune to it now.

GetDownNesbitt · 12/05/2012 20:12

YADNBU

SpagboLagain · 12/05/2012 20:13

I saw someone in flesh coloured leggings and a short top. I nearly crashed the car she looked so very naked.

grobagsforever · 12/05/2012 20:15

Can we add a sub-rule:

Shorts are to be worn with bare legs - not tights FFS.
It. Just. Looks. Ridiculous.

WhiteWidow · 12/05/2012 20:16

I know exactly what you mean! I see women all the time and you can see cellulite and other lumps through them.

I will admit I like wearing them with shorter tops, I wear the thicker ones though. Im always careful to check that no bumps show though, being 21 I haven't really got any yet thank god but I will hang the leggings up then though because I don't think anyone should have to look at my bumpy ass.

Debeez · 12/05/2012 20:18

Not for those eating.

EUGH!

Purple2012 · 12/05/2012 20:20

Yanbu. I saw a girl on the bus yesterday with black leggings and a short top. I could clearly see she was wearing polka dot knickers.

Springforward · 12/05/2012 20:21

YANBU at all!

May I also add: they must be big enough and not stretched to pinging point.

Morebiscuitsplease · 12/05/2012 20:24

Mum at school wears them with short top.... Lovely figure but feel she would look so much better with longer top. It is not a good look. YADNBU

SecretNutellaFix · 12/05/2012 20:28

Equally unattractive are cut-offs so short and tight you have to pick them out of you arse as you are walking through town. Young girl, nice figure. I still don't want to see bare arse cheek presented to the world as you mince down the street in stupid heels.

landofsoapandglory · 12/05/2012 20:33

I think I followed that woman in that link Debeez. If it wasn't her, it was another one wearing a white thong under black, see through leggings. I had the misfortune to be behind her on the escalator in Primark!

YANBU OP.

ragingmull · 12/05/2012 20:35

Oh God, why do you care? There's a thread about this every week, just don't look if it's that offensive.

And you can buy leggings that aren't totally see through and look acceptable, I have a few pairs it's just that they cost £25 instead of £2.99

EasilyBored · 12/05/2012 20:37

Thinks that make me a bit rage-ey:

  • Leggings as trousers.
  • Ugg boots with tiny shorts and vest in the summer (OF COURSE YOU'RE HOT, YOUR SHOES ARE MADE OF WOOL!).
  • Wearing pygamas (with Ugg boots, tiny vest and fully made up hair and face) to go shopping in town on a Saturday. Or just you know, wearing them anywhere that isn't your house.
  • Wearing jeans AND a denim jacket.
  • Men in Uggs.
  • F*cking brogues on anyone who isn't a 50 year old man.

And now I need a Wine.

Trills · 12/05/2012 20:39

YAB a bit U because it's not up to clothing manufacturers to teach people how to cover themselves decently.

Do you think tights should have a label saying "remember to wear a skirt"?

Or should tunic tops have a label saying "if you are taller than 5 foot you're going to need trousers under this"?

EasilyBored · 12/05/2012 20:41

^ I would have thought that since it was labelled a 'top', people wouldn't need it spelling out for them.

Goolash · 12/05/2012 20:42

Yanbu.

I could see the cellulite of someone from cross the street today. Why? Why? Why? People, look in the mirror before young out.

Tell your friends, tell your family, tell your girlfriends and wives. Stop this.

While I am here, Females of the UK liisten o me. If you wear tan, brown, camel leggings, with a short top. YOU look as if you're of to audition for the role of Mr Tumnus.

ragingmull · 12/05/2012 20:44

:o at Mr Tumnus!

scentednappyhag · 12/05/2012 20:44

I think it'd be handy Trills Grin

BeNiceOrLeave · 12/05/2012 20:52

I AM GUILTY OF ALL THIS Grin

(except jeans and denim jackets, and Uggs in summer)

But why why why do you care what other people wear? Or you secretly enjoy the horror?

Trills · 12/05/2012 20:53

Because we don't want to see your knickers.

ragingmull · 12/05/2012 20:53

I really think you are looking a little too hard at people's bottoms.
