To say that I think Kate Middleton looks like she has an eating disorder?

Umm skinny's not the word. Possibly and probably a size zero? Not natural/down to fast metabolism either as she used to be 'bigger'. That waist is thinner than my thigh by a long shot. Even DH said about it this morning and he's generally not interested in that sort of thing.

Don't understand why it hasn't even been mentioned in the press? I'm confident that any other celeb/person in the public eye would be questioned/accused of being anorexic.

I wonder what her BMI is? I would suggest dangerously low, NOT a good example IMO. However, gorgeous teal dress :)

Aitch
Not talking about your post, but of comments about her being 'skeletal' etc.

We can comment on her weight gain without being insulting. You wouldn't go up to a friend and say, 'fucksake, you look like a skeleton, go stuff some cake in yer gob'

angeltulips · 12/05/2012 12:59

It's not unfounded! But anyway, am sorry for posting it here. U promise I won't do it again, didn't realise it wasnt allowed :( (I have discussed it on other UK based forums but no matter)

Let's get back to bitching about non-famous people then shall we?

angeltulips · 12/05/2012 13:00

I promise, rather than U - iPhone fingers...

Get0rfMoiLand · 12/05/2012 13:00

I think yo were prefectly reasonable aitch. We don't have to be ardent royalists who think KM is a 'role model' and can have an opinion but to throw around accusations that she has an ED is a bit rich.

MmeLindor. · 12/05/2012 13:01

Yes, ok. I get that, Trills.

I guess what I am trying to say is that MN can be such a fab supportive place, it irks me to see bitchiness of the kind we are always accused of showing.

This thread is exactly what DM researchers love to find

BalloonSlayer · 12/05/2012 13:02

She is certainly not 5'10.

She is clearly wearing 4" heels with that teal dress, and she is still three inches or so shorter than Prince William. Isn't he 6'2"? If she was 5'10 those heels would bring her up to the same height.

I am 5'4" and when I was about 19 I went through a period where I was very nervous all the time (I was learning to drive with an instructor who shouted and I didn't have the balls to tell him to stuff it and get someone else, so every lesson twice a week felt like a driving test). I lost loads of weight, I dropped to under seven stone. I looked MUCH thinner than Duchess Kate, and I couldn't sit down for too long as my arse was so bony it was uncomfortable. I absolutely did not have an eating disorder.

I may have said something along those lines in the post that got deleted (I was being unpleasant about the OP, not about KM)

Yes, there's no need for bitchiness. But that's not because it's wrong to bitch about women, it's because it's wrong to bitch about people.

MmeLindor. · 12/05/2012 13:07

Bitchiness is often directed at women though. More than at men.

These are musings, btw. Havent thought about this before so feel free to offer different pov (as if I need to add that)Smile

i think she looks as if she may be bulemic, like Diana.

way too skinny, bag of bones.

Northernlurker · 12/05/2012 13:11

Wow theinets - thanks for your valuable insight. 'Like Diana' is something that's NEVER been said about Kate before Hmm

It pisses me off that anyone who's very slim is fair game, but god forbid you comment that someone's getting a bit lardy. People start spouting the 'oh, she's a real woman' crap. I don't understand why some people are too stupid to realise that it's quite normal for a woman to be very slim.

Get0rfMoiLand · 12/05/2012 13:13

Thrilling!

Is it moron week?

Get0rfMoiLand · 12/05/2012 13:14

Including you eh, Everlong.

GrahamTribe · 12/05/2012 13:19

If Kate Middleton has an eating disorder it must be the same one I had when I was exactly the same age and weight.

Oh. Wait a minute. I didn't have an eating disorder. I ate like a horse very well and was in the gym 4 days a week. It's called an active lifestyle and healthy diet.

My size 16 friend was bullemic and anorexic though. In anotherwords, Spice17, you're talking trash.

AvengerFan · 12/05/2012 13:19

There was a lady recently who appeared on one of Sky TV's programmes, she had her obesity surgery operation shown. I know this lady a little and she said that she had prior to surgery had over a years worth of therapy at a clinc for those with eating disorders. She had her therapy with anorexic's etc, as the clinic considered them all to have the same behaviours and unhealthy thoughts towards food and eating.

Again if someone persists in undereating or overeating to the point they are not within normal range which is quite broad of weight for their height not including body builder here then they have most likely got something wrong medically thyroid etc or they have an eating disorder.

SparkyDuchess · 12/05/2012 13:20

gOML, good point about Gok, I'll forever more blame him when I see that 'real woman' rubbish being bandied about!

mmLindor - not KM, but I'm very similar in size and I get so sick of having to listen to 'compliments' like 'skinny cow'. Winds me right up...fairly obviously :o

AitchTwoOhOneTwo · 12/05/2012 13:21

i think we should rule out talk of 'bitchiness' as it's a female-specific and rather derogatory, undermining description in the first place. gay men and women 'bitch'... as if hetero men never criticise or complain...

that teal dress is AMAZEBO on her btw. not sure about the sandals. a bit strippery.

AvengerFan · 12/05/2012 13:21

Graham, what to you was eating loads, when you were the size of Kate?

I can't believe I'm even bothering to respond...

theinets - people suffering from bulimia can look average or even overweight so your diagnosis is flawed.

As it happens, I suffered from anorexia/bulimia for over 10 years. Even at my thinnest - when my organs started to fail and I was so weak I could not walk - I had friends that were thinner than me who absolutely did not suffer from eating disorders.

You simply CANNOT judge whether someone is suffering from an eating disorder by their appearance alone.
