Where has it gone? Just as I was about to start sprucing it up for the jubilee and start tatting the bunting?

Hullygullypuppy is posting about the hoover I think it's honeydragon in disguise

Hullygully · 30/08/2012 13:22

I was flattered when she named that puppy after moi - but I can't vanity search meself any more - it's all about that demned hound.

AbsofAwesomeness · 30/08/2012 13:31

Poor Ully - welcome to my world. I try to vanity search, and all I end up finding is people discussing workouts

Fiderer · 30/08/2012 18:23

I tried and got no references.

Apart from a Swiss or a Swede who plays Croquet, I believe. Or possibly Tennis. Balls were involved at any rate.

Minimammoth · 30/08/2012 18:32

What is vanity searching dear ones? < looks innocent>

OP posts:
Fiderer · 30/08/2012 18:51

Tis a forrin concept, dear Mini. At the border suave guards with epaulettes investigate your valise and search your vanity case. There may be hounds, sweating or balls involved.

Forrin travel is fraught with danger.

Umami · 30/08/2012 20:04

Ah, the dear Sheikhlet. Do make sure the gels have their wits about him, for he takes after his father.

Umami · 30/08/2012 20:04

Their wits about him???

Hullygully · 30/08/2012 21:22

Dear Abercrombie, what happy hours we spent in that barrel, albeit a little mute

MadameDefarge · 30/08/2012 22:21

has anyone news of nigel, and his/her sacred vessel, La Gibbonia?

Hullygully · 30/08/2012 22:42

Dear Gibbon did return briefly, but seems to have wafted away again, sadly. Perchance she will glance and see this and return to our bosom. Electrical Nigel is now quite the big boy I imagine.

ICBINEG · 31/08/2012 12:16

This place doesn't get any saner does it? Good job the hall continues as an oasis of calm....

I only stopped by to offer aid to a soul caught up in our terrible times but now I find myself offering advice on AIBU and fear I will be sucked back in.....

Perhaps I could borrow a tisane of forgetfulness (+8) from dear Fids.....

Fiderer · 31/08/2012 12:27

IC - welcome back, lovely to see you. I have concocted a lovely new tisane from some potent native fluid Hully brought back from the Greek Isles, called Ou-Zo-Good. It has a pleasant aniseed nose and a burn that could frighten the crows.

I am reluctant to offer it outside the Hall. Imagine the carnage.

ICBINEG · 31/08/2012 12:32

Unfortunately I am allergic have an automatic gag reflex powered by an adolescent binge drinking episode in Germany to anything aniseed flavoured.

Do you have anything flavoured with rose water? I find that to have a far more uplifting effect on my humours it reminds me of eating turkish delight.

Fiderer · 31/08/2012 12:45

As luck would have it, a new batch of my special rose tincture is ready. It makes a light and most pleasing tisane and is best served with an accompaniment.

Umami · 31/08/2012 19:51

Ah, yes, The Barrel. Mother always told me gentleman should be seen but not heard.

Pass the tisane with Ou Zo. I feel I should drink it all dispose of it, for the safety of others. Imagine if Rochester gets a sniff of it.

Hullygully · 03/09/2012 18:05

I feel there to be a singular dearth of fetching chaps these days, is it my age?

Hullygully · 05/09/2012 15:31

Alooooooooone again, naturaleeeeeeeeeeeeee

UmamiOrange · 05/09/2012 18:11

Ah, 'tis like old times....

I'm all alone on this great big thread now. I can talk to myself and say whatever I like and no one will know. It's really quite exciting.

Hully, you know I've always had a bit of a soft spot for you. Oh stop, you'll turn my head with your silken words. No, I want to say it. You are quite the most gorgeous and fascinating creature that ever graced these hallowed, empty, echoing MN halls. Would you care to dance? Oh, well, excuse me while I place my fan on the walnut whatnot and slide gracefully into your extraordinarily rich arms.

^^

Hullygully · 05/09/2012 18:16

dear lord

MadameDefarge · 05/09/2012 18:50

i have been provisioning at the merchant named lidl. i bear almond stuffed olives, cippolinos and cherries in syrup. i intend to fortify the cherries with copious amounts of maidenjuice for a splendid harvest ball where many gallant gentlemen will surely attend. dear didier! and abercrombie! maybe the sheiklet would do for one of the flightier gals? alas i must sink once more into the embrace of my chaise longue where i shall occupy myself by tatting mufflers for the local orphans and pondering the menu for the ball....

Hullygully · 05/09/2012 19:02

A ball!

Oh it has been a long time since we enjoyed a quadrille.

UmamiOrange · 05/09/2012 19:30

Ooh, I crave an olive-stuffed almond. We have missed your simple fare, dear Mimi. Carême popped by some months ago, but point blank refused to work with Cook in your absence. We've had to subsist on nought but tisanes, possets, and Bagatha's turducken.

A quadrille or four and a haunch of peacock would set me up 'til Michaelmas.

Hullygully · 05/09/2012 20:02

Poor Bagatha. She tries, but she was trained in the galley of a slave ship and never really got past maggoty biscuit and hominy.

I too yearn and crave the delights that dear Mimi could magic from nought but an egg, a bay leaf and a remarkably light wrist.

Why, dear Widow, have you appended orange to your name? Has the Rev Paisley been banging at your windows again?

MadameDefarge · 05/09/2012 20:10

Cher Antoine! a dearM but shockingly spoilt and, I fear, somewhat dismissive of the culinary delights of this fair isle! - taught him all he knows, of course...his notion of a croque en bouche was sadly underwhelming before i introduced him to structure...
