I HAVE NOT DONE THIS.However.DS School is literally across the road. Often, at pick up time baby is fast asleep.Snoring away.I feel bad to wake her up.

Would you dash across the road?

FeakAndWeeble · 01/05/2012 19:33

The SHOUTED disclaimer at the start of your OP indicates you already know this wouldn't be a sensible thing to do.

No.

DowagersHump · 01/05/2012 19:33

I would

SkinnyVanillaLatte · 01/05/2012 19:34

No I wouldn't. It does seem crazy to possibly wake a sleeping baby though.Could baby sleep in the buggy? Then you're ready to go!

DPrince · 01/05/2012 19:34

no. Never.

wishiwasonholiday · 01/05/2012 19:35

I would but only because I sometimes go to the end of my road with the wheelie bin. Will your baby monitor reach that far? And only when I knew they were coming out.

DangerousMouse · 01/05/2012 19:36

No way, is there not someone who could bring your daughter home if you are that close.. meet them at the front door maybe?

TheHouseOnTheCorner · 01/05/2012 19:36

No. Someone could see your routine.

DangerousMouse · 01/05/2012 19:36

sorry - son

Sparklingbrook · 01/05/2012 19:36

Can you see your house from the school?

RillaBlythe · 01/05/2012 19:37

I have once & felt like a cat on hot bricks the whole time I was out (under 5 mins). She was still asleep when we got back.

yousankmybattleship · 01/05/2012 19:39

No (sorry).
I know you'll get some people on here yelling that house will catch fire, be over-run with peedos etc etc and that you are a terrible mother for even thinking it. I don't think that's the case! I understand why you're tempted, but what if your baby was sick or just woke up and was distressed that he/she cried and you didn't come? what if the teacher asks you to stay behind for a chat or DS starts fannying about looking for lost coat/shoes/socks etc?

Do you not have anyone who could pick DS and drop him in to you if you really are just over the road?

AllYoursBabooshka · 01/05/2012 19:39

It's one of the down sides to being a baby, Your naps get disturbed.

She'll get over being woken up, Plus she will learn to love going to pick up her big brother from school.

parakeet · 01/05/2012 19:40

I have done similar when I knew I would be less than five minutes, door to door.

Never wake a sleeping baby, that's my motto.

MrsTerryPratchett · 01/05/2012 19:40

Sorry, no. I second the nap in the pram idea, so that you can just go.

minimisschief · 01/05/2012 19:41

what exactly do people think is going to happen to the baby thats safe asleep.

if you are making worst case scenarios of being run over with a baby stuck at home alone. you can equally become incapacitated falling down some stairs or tripping over and dying putting underwear on ( does happen rofl).

SkinnyVanillaLatte · 01/05/2012 19:41

I agree with yousank too.Life is never simple and there can be hold ups.You cannot guarantee a straight there and back (not that I think you should leave the baby even for that)

No. Never. Please don't do it.

AllYoursBabooshka · 01/05/2012 19:43

Mini that's one of my worst fears.

"Here lies Babooshka, Couldn't even put her kacks on without killing herself."

BeauNash · 01/05/2012 19:43

Yes.

GateGipsy · 01/05/2012 19:44

Literally right across the road? Why not? I have done same when son was baby and sleeping to slip across the road and return something to my neighbour. Also, used to garden outside in the front garden when he had naps. Sometimes I stood out there chatting with neighbours and might even walk across the street to say hello to a neighbour.

LetsKateWin · 01/05/2012 19:46

I wouldn't do it.

I don't have any ideas in my head about what may or may not happen, but I would feel very uneasy about it. I think it's mainly what yousank said.
