to be shocked appalled and disgusted that Jeremy Bamber has a twitter account.

I knew they were allowed the internet in prison but im obviously naive because i didnt realise until Bamber lost his lateast appeal, that they are allowed to actually have accounts on social networking sites when they showed a screenshot of his twitter account on the news.
There are unemployed people who are having to get rid of their internet access to save money and yet this lowlife gets an account?!!!!!!!!
He murdered his parents, sister and her six year old boys in Tolleshunt Darcy Essex in 1985. I was 12 at the time and remember seeing it on the news.
This seems wrong wrong WRONG to me on so many levels.

It's called Yuman Rites!

Shakey1500 · 30/04/2012 19:15

YANBU. Fine to have internet access to study/improve/rehabilitate but not for social networking IMO. Even then, I don't consider access to a pc/internet to be a human right.

squeakytoy · 30/04/2012 19:16

It is very easy for someone to "tweet" on your behalf.

Personally I have always been in two minds about the conviction.

Merlotmonster · 30/04/2012 19:17

There's lots of inconsistances with the evidence....wouldnt surprise me one day if he is released...

TheFlyingFishFinger · 30/04/2012 19:18

Let's boycott his twitter

The account I've just looked at says it's a consultancy tweeting on his behalf. Is there another?

SydSaid · 30/04/2012 19:26

You say he murdered his parents and sister - but he has always denied this, and there is a lot that wasn't right about his trial/inconsitencies etc.

Personally (based on what I know, which to be honest is only what I've seen via television so certainly not the full story), I think that he should have been given the chance to go to the court of appeal. I'm not saying he is innocent, but it certainly seems to me that his conviction is unsafe.

sensuallettuce · 30/04/2012 19:28

Why would you say you were him if ou weren't Confused

LeeCoakley · 30/04/2012 19:32

I remember it like it was yesterday. I hope he doesn't get off because the process was flawed. He's guilty as hell IMO.

Daughteroflilith · 30/04/2012 20:28

It is an interest of mine to read about murders and murderers. Very few people persist in protesting their innocence for that long. And the details convicting him are a bit questionable IMHO.

hackmum · 30/04/2012 20:33

I've followed the Jeremy Bamber case closely over the years. I'm as convinced as ever I was that he is guilty. Even Brian Cathcart, the journalist who was trying to make a case for his innocence, changed his mind and decided he was guilty after all.

The only alternative was that his sister, Sheila Bamber, took a gun and killed her own children and parents. It seemed highly unlikely. She did suffer from schizophrenia but schizophrenics are no more likely to commit murder than anyone else.

Kayano · 30/04/2012 21:15

Because no woman has ever done that before? Hmm it's only men right?

I didnt even know who he was until this thread and extensive googling but seems to me to be enough evidence and discrepancies to at least cast a doubt?

Seabright · 30/04/2012 21:22

No, because her arms weren't long enough to have turned the gun on herself and shot herself.

kittyandthefontanelles · 30/04/2012 21:28

So can I ask what the inconsistencies are or will you tell me to google it?!

DuelingFanjo · 30/04/2012 21:31

I used to think he was guilty, all the evidence seemed to point to that being the case, but recent evidence makes me wonder if this might be a miscarriage of justice. Not sure how I feel about the issue of Internet/computers in prison.

Kayano · 30/04/2012 21:31

I just googled it.

If the silencer was on the fun the sister couldn't have shot herself, but it was found afterwards and speculation family could have planted DNA evidence as they stood to inherit the farm and millions of £ should he be convicted

Police apparently disrupting the crime scene

Sisters mental health and only being released 2 months prior to the murders

Some police log somewhere that suggests the father tried to call them the night it happened...

Etc. they can all be argued for or against but I think there is plenty there for a bit of doubt

sensuallettuce · 30/04/2012 21:31

Have always been in two minds about Bamber. He's either a psychopath or he's a very wronged man.

DuelingFanjo · 30/04/2012 21:33

Kitty, if I remember correctly it's something to do with the silencer type part of the gun he was supposed to have used and also timings of phone calls made from the murder scene and from him. I think some phone evidence was 'lost'.

Joiningthegang · 30/04/2012 22:06

Of course he hasn't got his own twitter acct - he is in a maximum security jail with no access to the Internet.

kittyandthefontanelles · 30/04/2012 23:33

I must look into it. Surely he hasn't really got a twit account? Nah....

OldLadyKnowsNothing · 30/04/2012 23:37

He blogs. Sort of.

ImperialBlether · 01/05/2012 00:00

Prisoners are not allowed to use the internet.

bucketbetty · 01/05/2012 00:07

I know a lot about this case (I can't say why) and have absolutely no doubt in my mind that he killed his family.

Heyyyho · 01/05/2012 00:14

Yes I think
He is guilty
