Aren't you suposed to write to the Times (or is it the Torygraph) when you hear the first one of the year?

I'll send murderous cat to visit

Petsinmypudenda · 30/04/2012 12:29

Shoot them. I doubt they in this great country legally so no one will look for the bodies.

UnChartered · 30/04/2012 12:30

but they make fantastic clocks..

Fecklessdizzy · 30/04/2012 12:31

Are you related to DP? He was out trying to throttle some harmless tweeter at God-Knows-What-O'clock this morning ... Grin

sashh · 30/04/2012 12:31

The cat brought in two birds this morning - do you want to borrow her?

quoteunquote · 30/04/2012 12:35

well if things continue as they have over the last ten years you will soon get your wish, If there isn't a reversal in trend we could lose the cuckoo within five years, very sad. The use of insecticide seems to be the main culprit along with habitat along migrator routes. I shall miss them very much.

I'll borrow a double barrell shotgun and make cuckoo pie if they don shut up! I hate constant repetition, it makes my brain boil!

There is a dedicated topic you know for this sort of thing.

Just saying ...

Debsbear · 30/04/2012 12:37

It's the bloody woodpidgeons round here at 5 am. Drives me nuts! But it's a small price to pay to live in the country rather than the city

Tee2072 · 30/04/2012 12:37

There's a dedicated cuckoo topic?

We really do have too many...

SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 30/04/2012 12:40

Someone once told me that wood pigeons say "my toes are hurting"
And the ring necked ones say "I don't care"! I can't hear them now without those words circling round inside my head like flies! That drives me dappy too!

OP posts:
SaggyOldClothCatPuss · 30/04/2012 12:42

There's a topic?
But I WANTED to post here! I'm waiting to see how long it takes for someone to tell me off for my title! Wink

ExitPursuedByABear · 30/04/2012 12:44

Not a cuckoo topic silly!

The Great Outdoors - In which we have an Outdoorsy Shite Top Trumps thread - you still have time to sneak into April Wink

As an aside, it is the fecking blue tit who drives me mad at dawn with his repetitive yakking.

ExitPursuedByABear · 30/04/2012 12:44

I think we are all pointedly ignoring your title.

I've not heard any yet this year, but they do wake me up at first light when they arrive.
Shoot the bastards.

Vixxen · 30/04/2012 13:19

Here's me thinking "oh i'd love a pair of cuckoo's in the garden" but after considering it..... no.

mayaswell · 30/04/2012 14:04

And murdering. They tip other birds eggs out of their nests. And entitled, they make other birds raise their young.

countless · 30/04/2012 14:06

would

Lueji · 30/04/2012 14:07

More like benefit scroungers, really. :o

QuintessentialShadows · 30/04/2012 14:14

You are obviously not a foreigner, and I dare say you cant possibly have a "multi cultural" circle of friends, for you to post such a heading "in jest" and sit back and wait to be told off, for fun.

Not sure what you are trying to do. Tell it straight and pretend to talk about cuckoos, talk about cuckoos, or liken cuckoos to people who have opted to move to the UK (for whatever reason) and is not put off by the fact that the country (along with its people) is utterly going to the dogs. (yet)

QuintessentialShadows · 30/04/2012 14:15

UCM is that you?

Hmm

oh no, it is Saggy.

ExitPursuedByABear · 30/04/2012 16:08

Grin Shock Grin

MeKathryn · 30/04/2012 16:11

But surely the cuckoos are born here, they are just terrible ex-pats half the time taking their awful british food with them for the winter?

LadyBeagleEyes · 30/04/2012 18:16

Er joke, Quint.
Way to kill a thread.
