to think Sun readers are as lowlife as the hackers

moogster1a · 27/04/2012 09:27

That's it really. Anyone who is aware of the Sun's treatment of people such as Millie Dowler's parents, and of Ann Diamond is as complicit and scuzzy as the people at the Sun who condoned it.

I dont agree with the dirty things, the phone hacking etc I like reading some of the stuff in it. Im fed up with page 3, wish they would get rid of that though. too outdated.

SardineQueen · 27/04/2012 14:06

Have you watched the news?
Listened to the leveson enquiry?
I saw anne diamond on newnight last night. It was when, back in the 80s that they did that to her, it obviously still angers and upsets her.
But Sun readers don't give a fuck. I get that, I really do.

Nancy66 · 27/04/2012 14:07

I have read the thread - most of the accusations are untrue or the posters are confusing The Sun with NOTW

WorraLiberty · 27/04/2012 14:09

Worra, if I was a reader why would I be slagging it off? What a bizarre argument

Look at all the people on MN who continually slag off the Daily Mail...yet admit to reading it online.

As I said, it's either hypocrisy because they think online reading makes them somehow better than those who buy it over the counter....or they're too daft to realise they're still earning the newspaper money.

DPrince · 27/04/2012 14:09

I'll point out, again, I am not defending anything the sun has done. I don't like it, so I don't read it. What I don't like is someone who is increasing their revenue (see ops second post) claiming anyone else who does the same is Scuzzy. But she isn't. Because she only clicked on a few links. She has done the same but won't Accept that this makes her scuzzy, a hypocrite and badly informed about how revenue is made.

SharpsuitSharpEyes · 27/04/2012 14:10

I have to say I agree, anyone who is low browed enough to read the Sun shouldn't be surprised when they are involved in low handedness.

They are a paper who makes their money from scandal, they will produce it any way they have to IMO.

moogster1a · 27/04/2012 14:12

3 times in my 42 year life!!!!!! Each time accidentally! FGS

OP posts:
Pinkshoes2 · 27/04/2012 14:14

Lowbrowed!!

WorraLiberty · 27/04/2012 14:16

Ohhh so you did read it accidentally?

I thought you didn't read the links? Blush

I'll stop soon...I promise Grin

Seriously though, the hackers were total scumbags and caused huge distress to many people.

But starting a thread calling innocent people 'lowlifes' and 'scuzzy' because of their choice of paper...well that's just ridiculous.

Then again, this is AIBU where people like to start inflammatory threads I suppose.

Nancy66 · 27/04/2012 14:17

Arf - must say I am finding the illiterate, nonsensical bollocks being posted by those trying to claim superiority over 'stupid' Sun readers very amusing.

ABatInBunkFive · 27/04/2012 14:18

Show me a paper that has never done anything wrong.

IMO the DM is far worse, but i wouldn't label everyone who reads it as lowlife, though i'm sure a high proportion are.

Pinkshoes2 · 27/04/2012 14:20

Calm down its Friday Smile

DPrince · 27/04/2012 14:22

But you said anyone that reads it, you have read it. You are clearly not getting the point are you? Blanket judgments are, imo, wrong. Also whether you have accidentally clicked on or not. You have read it.

hairylemon · 27/04/2012 14:22

is that accidentally OP as in "I accidentally fell onto a hairbrush and thats how it ended up in my rectum Doctor"? Grin

SardineQueen · 27/04/2012 14:22

And they did a countdown to a girls 16th
And they published sam fox at 16
And they published the pic of anne diamond and the funeral
And they have page 3
And there is miles more than that but that's what I know about, and it's good enough for me to label the paper SCUZZY and revolting.

moogster1a · 27/04/2012 14:22

I never said anyone was stupid, I think you'll find the word was scuzzy; a state which can be achieved by people of a wide range of intelligence. Although if you were to force me to hazard a guess at the average intelligence of their demographic, I would say below average. Actually that's wrong. Depressingly, they're probably average as so many read it and fellow crappy tabloids.
But the argument is about the scuzziness of it, the stupidity of it can be left for another thread.

OP posts:
Nancy66 · 27/04/2012 14:24

Sardine - show me this countdown - i still maintain it doesn't exist.

WorraLiberty · 27/04/2012 14:24

is that accidentally OP as in "I accidentally fell onto a hairbrush and thats how it ended up in my rectum Doctor"?

Or "If we get caught, I slipped and fell on your penis" Grin

hairylemon · 27/04/2012 14:24

Id say someone who doesnt how not to click on a link to The Sun is also pretty dim somewhat

hairylemon · 27/04/2012 14:26

LOL Worra.

I was going to go with "I fell over the coffee table and thats how my penis landed in the dog" but didnt want it to sound too much like a Sun headline Wink

BonnieBumble · 27/04/2012 14:27

I wouldn't read the Sun, it is a disgusting little rag that doesn't qualify as a newspaper. Looking at pictures of celebrities getting fat, women with their tits out and the obsession with reality tv stars does not qualify as news. However my parents and my in laws read it and they are not scum. I have tried to get them to look at a proper newspaper but they prefer the Sun. Perhaps newspapers are like wine and you have to acquire the taste for quality.

moogster1a · 27/04/2012 14:28

I really don't get the obsession with my having glanced at 3 links in 42 years.
If I go bowling, I see MTV on the screen, that doesn't make me an MTV watcher or supporter.
If I go to a pub on a Saturday, I'll see permiership football in the background. Doesn't mean I'm contributing to Chelsea.

Let me repeat agan for the hard of understanding: I have never bought the rag in my life, and AFAI can recall have seen 3 linked pages that people pointed me in the direction of.

OP posts:
SardineQueen · 27/04/2012 14:28

If I see someone reading the sun I think they are scuzzy.

HTH Smile

I am going to hide this as there is no argument as far as I am concerned. What they did to Anne Diamond was despicable. Counting down to a girls 16th when they will show her with her top off is revolting. Page 3 is pathetic, outdated, and causes enormous discomfort to an awful lot of females (men leering at pg 3 on the tube and then leering at schoolgirls etc). If I see someone reading it I think they are an idiot, possibly a callous one, possibly a pervy one.

Bye now Smile

WorraLiberty · 27/04/2012 14:29

"Freddie Starr fell over the coffee table and that's how his penis landed in the hamster"? Grin

BonnieBumble · 27/04/2012 14:31

SardineQueen. Do they actually do that? The counting down thing? That is outrageous. Angry
