...to want to find a brand of tampon which doesn't fall out..???

Am fed up of using tampons which work their way down, particularly if I dare to have even a quick pee. Repeatedly find them about to 'emerge' and so get through twice as many as I actually should need to.

Have had one ventouse delivery. Have admittedly also had a number of internals since then, but surely I can't be that stretched can I???

Can I be the first to suggest a mooncup? Never had that problem with mine.

Firepile · 18/04/2012 13:47

Beat me to it, Mme! Mooncups all the way.

oceanstwo · 18/04/2012 13:48

Really? Can't get over a memory of being 15 and trying to use non-applicator tampons... Think it stayed in until I'd put my knickers back on..

And I'm not wearing towels. I grew out of nappies a long time ago...

Are you using the super mega ones rather than the little skinnies? Lillets are good.

oceanstwo · 18/04/2012 13:50

Using tampax super and then dropping down to regular.

Might try lillets and am currently browsing the mooncup website...

Aribura · 18/04/2012 13:51

And you're definitely putting them in right?!

MmeLindor. · 18/04/2012 13:52

It is always a race to be the first to suggest a mooncup, Firepile.

I love mine. Almost don't notice I have my period.

oceanstwo · 18/04/2012 13:53

Putting them like I always have so I assume so..

Might become a mooncup convert. Can't be as bad as this ;)

You all beat me to it... mooncup!

strawberrypenguin · 18/04/2012 13:58

Lillets will be better as they expand width wise rather than length like tampax do

WhiteTrash · 18/04/2012 13:59

I used to get that with applicator tampons. Even before kids, its not that I had a huge fanny, just that I probably had a short one and those tampons are really long. I too, turned to moon cup for this exact reason.

BrigitBigKnickers · 18/04/2012 13:59

Hmm- I have similar problems with tampons but don't find a mooncup any better (gravity is not my friend!)

I have recently converted to using jam sponges (horrid name mind you) and think they are fab! Two costing £9 lasts a year and they stay put- no more gruesome than a mooncup either.

oceanstwo · 18/04/2012 14:02

Wow - there are a lot of products out there!!

Am hoping to get knocked up again in the next few months, so this will hopefully all be irrelevant for another year or so, but I'll definitely try some of these out when the time comes..

I think tampons are a similar size, depending on absorbancy.
I'd does sound like the problem might be you (sorry!)
Have you been doing your pelvic floor exercises? Some women do become very floppy after a baby (I did) but exercises do work.

AIBUqatada · 18/04/2012 14:06

Hmm, the jam sponge site is very interesting. I like its style. But they lost me at the point where they advised "tying a bit of dental floss" to the sponge, and they double-lost me with the admission that the sponges may contain a little bit of sand or shell.

OutragedAtThePriceOfFreddos · 18/04/2012 14:09

I agree that lilets might suit you better because of the way they expand widthways, but I also think that you probably need to do some serious pelvic floor exercises. There are things you can do with physio, I would try and get a referral from your GP, especially if you are going to try and TTC soon. Having another baby could make it worse if you don't get it sorted now.

undercoverPrincess · 18/04/2012 14:11

I've recently switched from Lillets (which I'd used since year dot) to tampax compact and they are much better for me (I also had this problem post kids), HTH.

OutragedAtThePriceOfFreddos · 18/04/2012 14:12

Those jam sponge things sound horrible. I can't believe that they are trying to justify taking sponges out of the ocean by saying that divers leave the roots in tact, it takes years and years for sponge to regrow. By taking them out they are disrupting the entire ecosystem. No decent diver would even agree to do it.

AIBUqatada · 18/04/2012 14:16

Yes, I saw a bit Hmm about the environmental claims the jam sponge site made. Sponges don't even have "roots" do they? They are animals. Perhaps the claims are sound, I would need more evidence I think before believing that sponges are less environmentally damaging than tampons.

valiumredhead · 18/04/2012 14:19

I could never use Tampaz- but never had any problems with Lilets. Then i discovered sponges and finally settles on a Mooncup.

ScrambledSmegs · 18/04/2012 14:22

Mooncup. I had a ventouse delivery too, and found afterwards that tampons kept falling out, especially when I was running. Because you have to create a seal to put a mooncup in properly, they shouldn't fall out. Mine never has.

Btw, keep doing your kegels, and maybe think about pilates? It helped me a great deal. Does wonders for your sex life too... Hmm

Debsbear · 18/04/2012 14:23

Never heard of these "jam sponges", was intrigued by the first mention but now I'm not sure I want to know anymore! Hmm. I don't find mooncup any better than tampons tbh, and after I started my thread on periods yesterday I'm not going to moan my way through another Smile I think a trip to the doctor might be advisable if it's as bad as you say. Good luck

Idocrazythings · 18/04/2012 14:23

Maybe your pelvic floor needs a bit of work? You could get some of those balls that you use to help tone them up by holding them in place? Or a good women's physio? Good luck

ScrambledSmegs · 18/04/2012 14:24

valium! Thank you, it was your help on my old thread that made me decide to get a mooncup! And your advice about the seal was invaluable. Thanks
